I find it hard to shoot black and white in Florida (though Clyde Butcher and Woody Walters managed to do it effectively). Here's a few that I shot on various day or weekend trips: Bok Tower: Cedar Key: Slocum Gardens: Old Tampa Bay: Fort Desoto: Can't figure out why the boat pic is fuzzy - it looks fine from my hard drive. Maybe the photo site modifies it...... Scott

Thanks, Bree. That shot of the swans required large amounts of both patience and bird seed Scott

I've got to get some black and white film or try to modify some photos using Photoshop. Scott, you guys are an inspiration to me.
"Grits is one of those country-boy words that is both singular and plural-like deer, elk and sheep. I think the singular is appropriate when there's a modifier that makes it clear one is talking about something specific. Like, 'Grits are good for you, but these here grits is tasty.'"~~Joe Wrabek

Thanks Tricia:
Yeah, some of the stuff you shoot (thinking of the Rue photo) would look cool in black and white.
Hey Calvin:
Thanks! I like that one too. Cedar Key is an interesting place...

Thanks Lynn. For awhile in the 90s I spent a good fraction of my spare time entering photo contests. Got burned out on it though... Hi Rick: Thanks. Think I got a few from your neck of the woods. Might dig 'em out sometime. Glad you guys liked them... Scott

I think the Cedar Key one looks like an old 1920's era car. = )
So are these recent pics or older ones?

Brian I never noticed that, Brian - you're right All the black and white pics I'll post will have been taken between 1992 and 2004 - the years I had a darkroom.... I love to take pictures of old, falling-apart, things. So even though the pics might not be TOO old, many of the subjects are probably gone by now. Those derelict shrimp boats were hauled away several years ago. Haven't been to Cedar Key for awhile but I wouldn't be too surprised to find one of the recent 'canes did that shack in Scott

Beautiful photos, Scott. The last picture is a little grainy but not too much. Did you adjust the size before uploading it? If not, that may be the thing to do so the photos show up as you intend them to be seen.

Hi Jean:
Thanks!
Last one is grainy because it's shot on 35 mm infrared film. Nature of the beast.....
I usually scan the pics to bitmaps from 8 x 10 prints and then convert to jpeg and resize for "web applications". It's always worked fine except for one photo so I must have done something different for that one by mistake.....
