This could apply to any time we have to say goodbye to someone we love. (OTOH, it was inspired by Lord of the Rings... at the end of the book, Frodo has to say goodbye to Sam & this is meant to convey the simple sadness of that moment.) My questions are... is it okay to not repeat the verse section & just go to the bridge? I've also worked hard at the production... wondering what does and doesn't work. I'm not sure about my lead vocals - I think they need tweaking in spots. Thanks. Goodbye My Friend http://www.soundclick.com/pro/view/...48&content=lyrics&SongID=5049987So many days You were the only one I could count on To get me through So many times When I was giving up You stood by me With strength renewed And now it is so hard to let you go
But, say goodbye My friend Goodbye I will never forget you Through all the coming years. Yes, say goodbye My friend Goodbye I am sailing far from you Sailing to new frontiers Where peace will dry my tears Goodbye, my friend Goodbye. Our one, small story will never end As long as we both remember our best beloved friend but still it is so hard for me to go
now, say goodbye My friend Goodbye I will never forget you Through all the coming years. Yes, say goodbye My friend Goodbye I am sailing far from you Sailing to new frontiers Where peace will dry my tears Goodbye, my friend Goodbye. ...it is so hard to let you go

Vikki, this is a lovely piece here... I think the way you have it works fine. It works because the chorus is lengthy and beautiful and it takes us back there sooner:) I can see how the Lord of the Rings inspired this. Again, a lovely and touching song.-Dana

Hi Vikki,
Lovely piece. The vocals are the best part. I wouldn't change them.
Peace,
Ian

Hey Vikki: I understand your concern. I can't think of any songs that share this structure. And if you did have a second verse and chorus, it would likely end up too long. I don't know how much people who are evaluating songs for possible use pay attention to that kind of thing. If you hadn't have primed me to think about it, there is a good chance I wouldn't have commented on it. For me, it worked just fine, probably for the reason Dayson gave. Love your vocal. If you have concerns about it, they are at a level of subtlety that I can't hear Beautiful.....sorry I can't be more help...... Scott

You've got a beautiful voice and i have such a craving to record this with a 'harder' edge (same tempo) - more drums and more prominent bass. This could easily be a cross-over pop tune even though it's a smooth 'quiet' piece, i hear a lot of energy and strength in the arrangement.

The vocals were a little pithy, but not a big deal. The tune is cool and free flowing structure.I like it!

Finally get to hear some more great Vikki vocals. Very relaxing sound. I could see this in a fantasy setting. No nits with anything. Works for me.

Would work well being played over the closing credits of a film, very good.
