Dennis, you have to know I'd love this. It's just right. The world needs more songs like it. Thanks for writing it. I can't get into nitpicking anything or making suggestions--I just LIKE it. A lot. Good stuff. Good memories there.

Thanks Linda,
We ate out quite often, nothing fancy, but she always referred to it as 'dates'.(mostly after dialysis clinic)
I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Very nice, Dennis
One sug:
the guys at the club are one player short for poker made reservations for dinner the kids are going to my mother's TO my teammates at the club will have to find another made dinner reservations the kids are staying with my mother
It might mess with the meter, but I at least hink it should be CLEAR the kids are STAYING at Gramma's house, so that they can have a full night of uninterrupted romance. Ben

I'd change "have a date" to "got a date"...just seems more conversational.

Hi Lisa, I'm glad you liked it. It was almost a joke between us. She would tell other women which asked for advice that we still 'dated',

Hi Ben, thanks. I edited in STAYING AT instead of 'going to', but kept the rest the same., just couldn't part with poker/mother

This is very sweet, Dennis. I think "gotta date" works better for that line. I'm assuming if this was one of your wife's favorites that you have a melody. The meter didn't seem to match up in the verses, but you must have worked that all out! Only other thing I would question is the line "Shine up my shoes" doesn't seem to me to be something that he's "supposed to do to show her I still care". I think I would find something a little more personal you could put in there that would be more meaningful to her. Just my two cents worth!

Hi Mary Lou. I didn't work on meter yet, my wife ejoyed reading my rough drafts. I put the line about the shoe shine because she like for them to be shined for dancing..I thought it was like a male version of make-up.
