Hey Kenna: Good to see you post, It's been awhile. I check, as I'm sure you do, to see if there is any activity on the Memphis site. Perhaps we could get a pickin party going, I allways enjoy those. Just hate to see the wheels come off the wagon. I know it's hard to be the one that does all the work, usually that's also the one that gets all the blame. I'm in if anybody wants to get something going, but it's hard for me to do much from a hundred miles away. (allways with the excuses). Anyway, good luck, and good writing: Randy

Kenna,
I wasn't aware that anyone was interested in leading the chapter/keeping it going after you resigned... no one contacted me.. so there wasn't a lot to do until someone expresses an interest in having a chapter and helping make it go. Jean Bullock gets all the requests for chapters and as far as I know she hasn't gotten any since you stopped (though perhaps she's not fully aware you resigned?).
I had considered coming down to Memphis again this winter like last year, and it seemed at the time that the local members enjoyed the evening, but without a contact point in Memphis, it's hard to bring people together (hence the need for chapters in the first place.)
I am open for ideas if anyone has any.

yes, its a crying shame that a city as big as Memphis can't muster up any more enthusiasm for a music organization than we got here...but... It doesn't surprise me. There are several local organizations here that are very "clickish" and unless you are one of the elite then you don't have much chance of success...
I truly did give it effort, but when there was such a lack of response, it became evident that I was spinning my wheels tryin to get this to happen.
I wish you much luck with the org wherever you have it actively going.

Hi, Kenna and Brian.
To the best of my memory, there have been no requests for Memphis chapter info. The last thing I heard was that you were resigning, Kenna. I am going to send you an E. Take care.

Keena,
from the post and replies I have received you seem to head the Memphis Chapter.
I understand that you are recoving from a stroke. To keep the momentum of the organization going can I offer some assitance with some events?
I would be happy to extend my energy to help you keep things rolling until you are able to be more active. I would be happy to do the leg work, make phone calls, find locations and just try and help complete some of the goals you have for the group.
Please feel free to contact me and share your thoughts.

From the above list it appears that Kenna, and I am making an assumption, feels she can not get a group going.
I have expressed the interest and desire to head a memphis chapter, what do we need to do next?
If you are interested in creating a group for orginal music and to particpate in programs for musicans please send me an email.
My email is wmandrews@lycos.com
If nothing is happening then I put it to us as a group to make it happen. I am willing to be the leader, and set up a plan, just let me know who wants to do things.
Just to start the conversation when responding please indicate the following things:
1. best way to contact you. 2. what would you like the group to do 3. are you looking for opportunities to network or just play 4. Are you seeking a place to test material?

Freinds, Romans, Memphians:
I asked earlier for anyone interested in a Memphis chapter to send me an email.
I got one reply!
Kenna, as noted in the previous post is moving to Georgia and is willing to help me, and give me advice.
So if you are interested now is the time to say something. I am putting together a benefit concert for a musician for July and would love to have some help, have some JPF people play, and have an opporutnity to pull in more members to JPF.
let me know! my private email:wmandrews@lycos.com

Hi Wayne, As I mentioned in the E-mail I sent you, I would very much like to see the Memphis Chapter become active again. I'd be willing to help in any way I can. In fact, Liz Marable, the owner of Tiz Ann's Station in Olive Branch, asked me Wednesday evening if JPF would be coming back to the area for another Road Show. She provided the venue for the 2002 show, and I think she'd be willing to do it again. Let me know if I can help. Larry ------------------ www.taylormadesongs.com
