Hi, I haven't been around for a while as we've been rehearsing a new rhythm section prior to getting into what promises to be a heavy gigging scenario (yippee!). Here's a brand new one we're going to put in the set. Country music is immensely popular in Glasgow (Scotland) where about half the local population can claim some Irish as well as Scots ancestry. It occurred to me that at least part of the explanation for the music's appeal is that a lot of it is based on old Scots and Irish tunes that have "grown up and come on home." It's at http://www.outfitmusic.com/Mp3.html Check out the rest of the site while you're there! Bob COWBOY IN THE HEART OF GLASGOW Chorus: Oh the tunes we sent the new world Have grown up and come on home They’ve turned into a square dance Or a Texas cowboy song Some ancestral memory makes his feet just tap along He’s a Cowboy In The Heart Of Glasgow One last look in the mirror to make sure he’s got it right His neckerchief is tied straight and his boots are shining bright Then he steps into a taxi and leaves Scotland for the night He’s a Cowboy In The Heart Of Glasgow He rides a palomino in his mind so wild and free His heart’s not in the Highlands, it’s in Nashville, Tennessee The Paisley Road Grand Opry is the best place you can be If you’re a Cowboy In The Heart Of Glasgow His waking dreams are filled with living right and being free And rolling in his baby’s arms while Patsy sings “Crazy” His workmates call him “Jimmy” but at night he’s “Tex McPhee” He’s a Cowboy In The Heart Of Glasgow It’s the music of the frontier that makes him stick around All the way from Western Swing to that “high and lonesome sound” First up for a line-dance and the last one to sit down He’s a Cowboy In The Heart Of Glasgow © 2005 Bob Leslie

Thanks a lot, Doug. The band is coming together phenomenally well - I couldn't be more pleased. We rehearsed this song yesterday and it sounded great - mind you, we needed oxygen afterwards! Remind me to write some songs that leave pauses for breath! Cheers, Bob

Hey Bob, I enjoyed this. I tell ya, add a hot flatpick solo in there and perhaps a fiddle solo to this high energy tune, and it would be blazin !
Good lyrics, flows well. "Some ancestral memory makes his feet just tap along"...love that line !
Thanks for posting friend !

Thanks, Tony, I didn't go too far with overdubs because it was really intended as a demo for the band to learn but, believe me, there is a whole lot of wild picking on the live version! Glad you enjoyed it! Bob
