Hey folks, I'm mixing on a mackie 32, from adats...I'm burning straight to disc...I have found that my signal is weak compared to other cd's. I mix so that my strongest level does not peak (clip). But the over all recording is still weak in comparison to others. I'm not sure what effect to use to modify this problem...I have a maximizer, an EQ, and a Limiter/compressor/expander/gate(which is a beringer so I have no idea how to use it...lol...any suggestions on how to level off my signal for an overall stronger peak?

This is better off at the recording forum. Offhand, you need to run a hotter signal when you're mastering. Possibly, you could run your mixed signal back through two tracks on your mackie, compress it a little, and bring the volume level up to peak. I'd suggest that you ask at the recording forum for more detail. All the Best, Mike ------------------ You have to practice improvisation. -Art Tatum Mike Dunbar Music
You've got to know your limitations. I don't know what your limitations are. I found out what mine were when I was twelve. I found out that there weren't too many limitations, if I did it my way. -Johnny Cash It's only music. -niteshift Mike Dunbar Music

Hi MrWonder,
On the back of the Mackie board there is a -10 and +4db little gray button to push in or out. Check to see if it's at +4
Also there are a few outputs on the borad to take to a two track machine for mix down. You should be using XLR mic cable outputs for best results. That board doesn't have the loudest output signal in the world either but it should do the job.
Hope This Helps
