Hi Doug:
I have no experience with these folks. I had never heard of them before your post. Took the time to do a non-google search and found their site for both musicians and listeners. At this point, I have no opinion other than to tread with caution. My doubts are centered around the listeners (anyone who subscribes to their streaming service) getting to vote on whether or not they "like" or "dis-like" or prefer to "skip" the stream being listened-to.
If this "collective" opinion is being used to determine the validity of the work being heard... how do we know it is not "loaded" by staff members of Timbredio in order to promote songs they are possibly "pushing?" Then there is the distinct probability that the "listeners" will be teens spending Daddy's money with reckless abandon and having no knowledge of genres, musical history or theory... or enough sense to recognize a masterpiece if they hear it. Most of these young folks blindly follow what they are told is "good" by their peers.
I hope I am wrong about this. It would be nice to have some legitimate competition to Apple and others monopolizing the music biz today.
My opinion is without foundation... only suspicion based on similar start-ups.
