I didn't know you'd gone country, sounds great and nice job on the lyrics The chorus melody is really strong,.You're one of the strongest hook writers I've heard on JPF. The only nit I have is it's a little confusing with the flower and note (which are great images for this song) and the friend. But I see you're trying to set up the chorus and let us know your singing about her, not to her, anyway it has an innocent, mysterious, and sweet quality which is one of your strengths as a wrier. This sounds great and is really nicely done but I'm not sure I understand the story. It sounds like this guy is writing a note and bringing flowers to his old lover, to let her know that he had loved her once but been hurt so he moved on and has now found love again with someone else? Is that right? If so, good, then I got it. If not, can you clarify it for me?

thanks for coming by and listening, and taking time to comment. let me see if I can explain...
got in to my car..wrote a note to my girl..stopped and bought a flower too, stopped by and left the note at her work.... and then in the note I wanted to tell my girl..about this woman,, [her] and what she has done to me.people might not know its Her..that part is in my head not on paper..... yes, just kinda freewheeling in the bridge,a past love, past life..the blues ..hard to swallow sometimes. But we have to move on..

Calvin, Gavin, Pete, Ricki, and Dave.. Thanks, kind folks. Pete, I agree with "sweet, innocent, and mysterious" and I had read the lyric from a different perspective: that of the singer giving the note to a former girlfriend with whom the singer was now just friends with, but close enough friends to confide something that personal with. In fact, the song reads great like that, and I have been in that situation myself, so I fell into that reading easily. Only problem, is, that's not what Lane intended! Lane, if you like, I think we can make your intention clearer with a couple "you"s thrown in at strategic times, like late in the bridge: we love and we lose we bury the blues and move on... a matter of pride I had to step aside ..and find... YOU..(long held note) That should be enough..Plus..that's where most twists in songs happen, and anyone who wasn't "getting" that the woman receiving the note was "this woman" that he's singing about will have a happy "end-of-bridge surprise," LOL.. Anyway Lane, I'll email you and we'll talk about it.. Thanks again, folks.  Mike

Sometimes it just takes that one special person to come along to get you feeling grounded. This is what this song is all about. One of my favorites with the right mix of traditional and modern country. Should be a success.

Howdy guys!
Loved everything about the song--nice work all. I listened to the bridge a couple of times Mike, one sug (not nit) for me, I thought the pre-bridge music could build a little more like a stacking crescendo effect along with percussion supporting a bit more. Maybe even add a measure of music there for build to enhance the dynamics of the bridge. It's fine as is, just a thought you could make it more of a climactic with a stronger build at that important juncture.
