Hi Lane:
We used to call this type of music "Burn Songs" back in the 50's, LOL! Really strong lyric and Mike knocked it "out of the park" for you. Genre assignment gets more difficult each day but this one really "rings my chimes." Well done, both of you. -----Dave

Good lord, I wish I could produce something that sounds so rich and complete. Could easily see this on a movie soundtrack—where’s John Hughes when you need him. Great vocal, Mike—stellar lyrics, Lane. Well, well done!
Dear regards,
Deej

Hi Dee, thanks so much for listening and leaving a comment, Mike is terrific on vocal in this, and like Dave said knocked it "out of the park". to be honest the write just kinda built itself. thanks again Dee for coming by.

I like the conversational and confessional tone of the lyric and the rock ballad production is really strong. I like the instrumental, tonal change coming out of the bridge and then the build up of musical emotion to the big ending with the soaring rock ballad guitar. All really well done. The lyric seems a little confused - maybe that's what you were going for - a kind of conflicted, I'm over it, but I'm not really and never will be, it's my fault, but see what you've done to me, - message. -- which is powerful , but would possibly be unsettling if you were the recipient of it? Maybe I'm reading too much into it? .....Pete

forgive and forget...yea right.. you might forgive, no forgetting. I don`t blame anyone but me.
but its about me and you..

I thought it all crashed together extremely well,Lane, seriously the whole thing is very good and communicates a strong emotional message. Hope you don't mind me picking at things a little. I'm just trying to understand a little better. Why else bother doing this? What I'm picking up is maybe I could improve my writing by being less literal and straight forward. Anyway loved the total package if I didn't make that clear ... Pete

hec no I don`t mind, sometimes I write some real crap, and i have you guys here to tell me that, so like you I`m here for the help. and the friendship. this was about loss, the next song i`m working on is a love song, and I`m not real good at that. I like to change things up so I don`t get stuck on one genre. some problem I have is imagining, I have to be there, or been there... can`t write about cupcakes in the morning if I`ve never had that..comes out crap....lol
Sometimes someone will say something that triggers a write, and I`ve had it happen. you have the name of my new song in the previous comment you made WHAT YOU`VE DONE TO ME.....lol I have that pretty much done, a couple of nicks in it yet..
remember "the new girl" in school, on the block..wherever.. have a little done with that needs a 3verse and some people to look at...want to look?...lol I thought the bridge would be music..kind of a down and dirty thing...lol...not bad dirty. Let me know and i`ll stick in a message so you can. thanks so much Pete.....Lane

This has the Mike Zaneski treatment alright. Reminds me of something Roxy Music could have done.
Well did, both.

Dave, Deej, Pete, Vic, Travis.. Thanks for giving this a listen, guys. Lane writes from the heart and it's easy connecting with his words and music. I'd been listening to a bunch of John Hiatt around the time I recorded this--"Bring the Family" --one of my favorite records ever.. Thanks again. Mike

I love this site and the talent here. This is so well done that it makes my attempts look like the 'demos' they really are. There has to be a way to find who is using Band In A Box here on JPF, so we can share the files, co-write, co-produce and learn from each other. I am still learning Band In A Box myself.
As to this demo/production, I enjoyed it.

Thanks Ricki! Thanks Doug. Yes, many of us here use BIAB. After awhile you'll be able to figure out just by listening who's using it and who's not, I think. You'll be familiar with the styles and performances and all.. I'll start a thread in the Musician's Forum since it appears it would be helpful to at least you..probably more folks..thanks again.. Mike

Hey guys!
What I like most about this production is the subtle 50's vibe which is just enough to pay tribute to that era, yet the song still has the "drive" and current feel for even today's pop appeal.
