I care for nothing I care for no one I spent my life Chasing after fun Chasing after women One night stands I wish I'd been A Better Man
A Better Man Would've raised his son Stayed at the Post Office Til his time was done Helped out his parents Stayed outta Vegas Stayed away from vice Smoke and drink
I lived to waste To spend it all On games and music Above the law Drifting around Town to town I let no one Tie me down
Looking back now On a wasted life I'd change a lot Make it right
A Better Man Would've raised his son Stayed at the Post Office Til his time was done Helped out his parents Stayed outta Vegas Stayed away from vice Smoke and drink

You might also recall the song of the same title which put Clint Black on the music map. Except that I never had kids, the lyrics of this song fairly accurate portray some of the early parts of my life when I lived for pleasure. But I never went to Vegas and didn't particularly enjoy singles bars which were very much in vogue at the time. Gee, I haven't heart that term used in years now.

It's obvious you know how to a write a good lyric. Nice flow and coherent structure. I just can't get the other song out of my head to be objective! There are so many songs about "should haves" it's hard to be original and universal at the same time but if it's your story then I applaud your confessions and insight!
