The nephew dont like me saying that I can not wait for it, because it means he goes back to school, but I cant wait.
Sick of steroid talk, sick of ten year contracts worth hundreds of millions, but worth zero on the field.
Still the greatest game in the world, but it's in bad shape right now. The roid cloud, and due to the lack of roids offense is down. Run production is down across the board, people yawning at the games.
Football is needed to pump some life into the sportsworld. Im ready to hear Hank JR sing, oh wait he got ousted lol poor guy

If steroids can keep players playing, let them figure out a way to make it work like that. But when only some are using and others not it creates an uneven field. I say let it be a health enhancer, not a baseball enhancer. right now its a bit of both.
I dont think fans really care about roids. Baseball cares because of records being broken. No other sport has a precious home run record like baseball does, if a guy breaks it cause of roids, it makes them look bad. The only problem is it happened already.
But im ready for foosball, college too!

Not A Vols fan, just a fan of college football in general. One of the few sports I can watch just for the fun of it. A bunch of kids who are still growing, dont even know if a lineman will be 6"3 or 6 "4 by the time the season starts. Tennessee dont even know who their Qb will be yet, lol. New QB, new Coach, they do have a killer offensive line. Theyll have to win grind em out kind of games lots of running plays and solid d. Only they dont have alot of defense, they couldnt stop ME last year. Wow that is tough look at the first 5, Oregon, Florida and Alabama georgia/ South Carol. I'll be pulling for ya though Josie.

Of course, Like College Football, not so much the Pro's. There are too many games, College looks too much like the Pro's. College used to start the end of September, now it is August. Looking ahead it appears the Big 10, soon to be 14 is cutting back to 9 games. There is nothing like a Big 10 game in the fall. Getting a Ticket to most of them is impossible. Have fun!

A big bowl of "green", not "raw" boiled peanuts is perfect for football. It's green peanut season now until fall. I'm with Ray. I'd rather watch college games than pro. I'm not too crazy about watching a bunch of spoiled millionaires play a game. Professional sports has come a long way. These guys have been paid too well for too long, and guess what?, I don't have to care about their trials (literally) and tribulations. The pro sports culture has changed so much in the last fifty years (just like the music industry has) that personally, I don't care for it. If you want to see some real football competition, support your local high school team.

I think many Canadians watch US football weekly and we have our own favourite teams. Lots more watch the Superbowl.
Don't think there's much of a following for US college games, except of course the football Bowls, and the NCAA College Basketball playdowns and finals.
We've always been quite blessed in media choices, even before cable came along, getting all the US majors over the air via Buffalo, and then of course our Canadian stations as well. Hence all US major leagues have been part of the Canadian sports scene for decades.
The Bills have even been playing "home games" here the last few years, and of course we have pro teams in baseball (hey we even won the World Series two years running in the 90s) and in basketball. If not for the fact we have our own version of professional football (longer, wider field, 1 more man, goal posts AT the o yard line) we might have a pro football team in the US leagues as well.
BTW, you do know that a Canadian invented basketball, and the first baseball game ever (on record) was played in Canada ...right?
A version of ice hockey was actually played by the Native Americans in NE America...which I guess is why it developed in that region with the original 6 teams

I'm more familiar with that league than you might think. I followed many of Hawthorn and Adelaide games late night lol. Soccer is still the international sport but it's too low scoring to really take off in the states. Hockey managed to make it here cause it's a thrill a minute, enough scoring and a great goalie when he stops everything coming his way. He can mesmerize a crowd.

Michael,
They have an All Steroid Sport already, it's called WWE! Not a sport you say? Well, try going out there pretending with dudes that size tossing you around and out of the ring onto tables... they are all freaks of nature physically and enraged... they are as roided out as a human can get I think... I did some work with them in the 80's long before anyone knew about steroids... but they did.. shooting it up like sipping gatorade.

Michael,
It's not real football... it's a game... no body parts are at risk.

Ha,i know better than that Brian!i like my parts that are still working properly!Mike I think that was Mike's humor? lol Yeah, fantasy football is where you pick a team of real players (a fantasy team), if they score a touchdown in their real game, your fantasy team would get that touchdown. So if Tom Brady throws a touchdown and you have him on your team, td your team. I play in some pretty cut throat leagues here lol. We draft at hooters or similiar places and these guys are dead serious, not alot of laughing for 5 hours. Online it only takes about two hours. But whatever you do, dont listen to so called experts like Matthew Berry, "The Talented Mr Roto" A talented journalist, perhaps. These guys are wrong all the time and still have jobs, like the weatherman!

Brian Huh, I just now read this thread. I'd have been interested. As it is, I've been so busy with other things I have not gotten into a fantasy league this year and I normally run three teams in three different hosts. Bummer.

I have a draft at Hooters the same night the season starts, Thursday, as most people werent able to get together on a time and date. and I have another in a regular bar and grill back room, on Friday. And it can be done retroactively as well. You can draft a month into the season and have all the stats accumulate. Not too late, put up some dough and Ill take it from you LOLLLLL

Guess who's in the finals?
And they scoffed at me when I drafted Josh Gordon, in the later rounds nonetheless. (Ahh cleveland stinks, he wont do anything, that team is a joke)
Yes they are but that doesnt mean a great player is not a great player.
Dear Josh, thanks for stayin out of trouble after being suspended for first two games. You are a beast and have a brilliant career ahead of you.
it's christmas time...
