Almost three thousand new views on this one since Marty was on "America's Got Talent" a few weeks ago.... Slideshow-style video of "Mama Raised Me Right", a song I wrote with Marty Brown and the late Charlie Craig.

I will NEVER understand why these people will leave a post completely unanswered. It's almost like you don't exist. But there it is...in black and white...
I like this song...I was kinda curious, wasn't Charlie Craig the first "hit writer" who did critiques at h t t p : / / t u n e s m i t h . n e t? They have Gary Talley from the Boxtops now, and it says he's their "first music industry guest"...how quickly they forget...

I will NEVER understand why these people will leave a post completely unanswered. It's almost like you don't exist. But there it is...in black and white... Slim, it happens to me all the time. Sometimes I feel like I must be persona non grata around here. There are a few people who respond to my posts (and I appreciate it when they do), but as often as not, my posts are left hanging in the wind. I have also noticed that I am often the last person to respond on a post. After my name goes on, it seems like people quit having things to say. I swear I shower regularly. You might remember that I wrote this before I moved to Nashville, and then "re-wrote" it with Charlie and Marty in hopes of getting my foot through the door. It's essentially 90% the same as the original version. Of course, Marty sang the heck out of the demo. I don't remember Charlie doing critiques, but I do remember that he was at a TS seminar (so was Barbara Cloyd) that I attended in early 2003. A few weeks later, I ran across him in their chatroom, and received permission to send him a song. That submission started our relationship.

'TIS A GREAT SONG--SOUNDS RADIO READY--GOOD LUCK--I GUESS THE RESPONSE, NOW DAYS IS SLOWER, IF A SONG IS GREAT, NOTHING MUCH IS SAID IN A LOT OF CASES--BUT THERE MAY BE A LOT OF READERS!
GARY TALLEY IS A FRIEND OF MINE--HE SHOWED ME HOW TO DO A HALF-DIMINISHED CHORD YEARS AGO!
KEEP ON DOING YOUR GOOD THING--

What a tremendous song! Excellent lyric. One line I especially love: "It's OK to lose as long as you play to win". Wisdom. Gorgeous music & melody, and the vocal performance is perfect. A joy to listen to. Donna

I usually try to respond when somebody takes the time to make comments on my work. I don't know how yours got by me. Thanks for the kind words, and yes, I think Josh would be a great artist for this song. Don Williams, too.

This sounds really good. Well-written with a positive message. Marty Brown has a voice that is easy to listen to. Is that a Tele with a B-bender?
Nice job.

Nice job. Hi Colin, Thanks for checking it out. Marty has a great voice. This demo is about nine years old. As I recall, Robert was playing a Strat of some kind run through a modeler that allowed him to get all kinds of different sounds out of it. He did the whole session (we did three songs that day) sitting on a five gallon fishing bucket with a padded lid. He played all the parts except for the acoustic guitar on "You Can't Fool Love". Marty sang all three song sitting in a rocking chair. I had only been in town a few months. It was all very cool to me. Kurt

Great retro country tune!
I've been away from Nashville contacts so long I did not even know Charlie Craig had passed away. I used to to talk with him on the phone and send him songs many years ago. He would pitch a few songs for me from time to time too. What a loss of a great guy.
