My dad used to say that you could always tell who the outlaws were because they didn't shave. That was the idea behind this one. Comments are welcome as always. Hello Vic. You have a good production with a strong vocal. Those old cowboy shows seem like a long time ago now.

Hi Vic,
Love it. "horses/law says" --typical of the excellent lyric here.
This is a nice companion piece to songs like "Momma Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys" and I love the bit of a surprise ending with "it's mine" --with the narrator stepping up and letting his personal feelings on the subject be known.
Mike

Top notch lyric turned into a nice song Vic. You do not have to be a fan of country music to like this one.
And yeah, great ending...
If writing ever becomes work I think I'm going to have to stop

Hi Michael. Yes, I was a little embarrassed about that horses/law says line, but then I thought it suited the tongue in cheek style.
Thank you for taking the time to listen. Vic

Hi Vic:
Did they have "double-feature movies" in the UK back in the day? We sure did and the message delivered here was exactly the same one we received as we devoured popcorn and other stuff only kids would pay for... LOL! Great delivery and the backing was perfect.

This was great fun, Vic but still has the great performance and production we've come to expect. Truth be told, I've got a couple of those outlaw shirts myself but I call them tank tops! Ricki

Well don't take that, it's mine "Hosses" rhymes quite well with "law says". If you had a Texas or Oklahoma accent, there wouldn't be any question about that line. I do find myself asking "What exactly is an outlaw shirt?" (besides a convenient rhyme for "hurt" and "dirt".) Love the picking.

Nice write Vic. Really impressed with the music, especially the spirited guitar work.
Not that it sounds like it at all but certain parts of the music made me think of "Coward of the County".
Enjoyed the listen, Vic.

Yes Dave, we had the B movie followed by the main feature. I usually came in halfway through the B so had to watch the end before the beginning at the second showing. Didn't seem to matter much then.
Thanks for the comment. Vic

Hi Kurt. Thanks for having a look and listen. I didn't realise there was a problem with the horses/law says line. We've had them both here for a few thousand years.
The title came first so everything had to rhyme with that and not the other way round. Some like, inert, invert, insert, dead cert, flirt, spurt, squirt, pert and curt hovered just briefly. Metaphorically, an outlaw shirt is an outlaw lifestyle. Unmetaphorically it's something else.

Good sounds and production. Fine writing too (britches not breeches, though). You have a solid handle on that recording and mixing part. Good classic sound that still sounds excellent to me!

Thank you Nelson.
You are right about "Coward of the county". It kept coming to me as I was writing it so I tried hard to steer away by using different chord changes.

Thanks Kevin. I Googled "breeches/britches" before I used it. I don't mind either way but "breeches" seemed to be the most widely used. You may be right in the western category though. I'm sure John Wayne would have used "britches".

Ah yes....reminds this ole guy of silver screen Saturday matinees when he was a kid...
Great story, wonderful imagery and a wicked surprise at the end.
Your vocal fits perfectly and you put together a really effective mix.
Sounds great on the monitors and we both enjoyed it.

Thanks Jan & Bud. I remember watching Kit Carson and the Mystery Riders.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=biJxcyZi6UE We had no tv at our house so we had to make friends with someone who had one.
