Hi Aaron, I have some time ago. May be I'm missing something but it was very limiting to what I could do. May be they changed it since.

Someone told me that this site is great, so I had a go with it. It´s not good. First I thought, that it might be cool for doin a quick demo but I have a Entertainer Keyboard as well, so the Keyboard is way better.
Some of the guys hanging around in the JamStudio Forum say, that they are selling their stuff they have creates with JS, but I cannot believe this..

Kim (a very active member here) uses it for all of of her rough work demos. Although the programme certainly has its limitation, it's been excellent for getting her up and running.
I'm about to start fiddling with it myself before I move on up to BIAB.

Juice,BIAB, is Band In A Box, which is a program that, for $90 lets you compose music & have it performed, as you write it, on 10 or more instruments, or will help you compose it, once you tell it what style, chord structure, etc. that you're looking for, plus a bunch of other stuff. mighty cool for only $90........Gus

@Steven: The 90 bucks are only for a basic version with a real bad sound . The instrument where they unse something they call "real instruments" (they sound a bit like real instruments) costs more than 500 Bucks. Band in a box can be really handy for a rough demo or to print a note sheet for musicians. But I have never used it. Just heard, that some people are doin this. I think for JamStudio you have do pay something, don´t ya?

Martin, I just bought the 2010 pro version, including all the real tracks, real drums, everything, all the patches, vocal pitch control/ correction, 4 part vocal harmonies, plus much more all for $90 plus $9 shipping....... Gus

For examples of its capabilities/ limitations, check out Kevin Emmrichs tunes, or Neil Cottons, they both utilize some version of BIAB, TO WHAT ARE GOOD RESULTS TO MY UNTRAINED EAR...

@Gus: Oh, did not know that. Jeff Knight, who is a user in this board her, uses Band in a box with real track and so on, and he said, that his version costs about 500 Bucks... don´t know which version he has . I just downloaded the 2007 Demo Version a couple of years ago, the sound might have improved

Howdy Martin, yeah things change so fast huh? For someone like me, who can't play, to be able to compose something, & then have instruments of, whatever quality sound, produce it, and I don't even have to write the notes on a staff, that is pretty cool. I was astounded at how much I got for so little $$$ If anyone wants info on where where I ordered it from, PM me & I'll shoot the info, incl. SKU# etc., back to ya.....Gus

Hi kevin, did not know that you are a singer as well. If you want, have a listen to one of Jeff Knight´s tracks. I understand that he uses the full version of Band in a box for his productions. http://soundclick.com/share?songid=7826427 (Country Rock) http://soundclick.com/share?songid=8060559 (Ballad) This sound is pretty good. 470 Bucks, wasn´t it...

Martin: did not know that you are a singer as well. I'm not, let's keep it our little secret! Aaron: I think you have to somehow login to hear your tune. Kevin

Aaron, I think that for others to hear your tune you need to provide an MP3 of the track. And to obtain the MP3, you need to purchase the Access code. I think it's around $24.95.
Once you have that code, every time you 'save' a tune, you can get an MP3 sent back to you.
Check out the JamStudio forums.

Hi - As Donna said, I used Jam Studios alot to start a song...since I am not a musician.several of them I later had made into real song with musicians.....using my melody...here is my lame attempt at hip hop...get ready to laugh.. But I have always been one to try all styles..and genres...much to many peoples's shagrin Hip Hop http://soundclick.com/share?songid=8489265You can use it free for a few weeks, but I pay 4.95 a month, and then you can make tracks and mail them to yourself. It is limited, as far as amount of instruments...pages, but if I don't have a collaborator and since I can not play music myself...I do the best I can with my limited talent in music and singing..and sometimes it can be a catayst for someone else to make a real song...such as below.. my Jam version (very bad quality recording and my awful singing.. http://soundclick.com/share?songid=8677773Big Jim's Version with real instruments...and his vocals.. http://soundclick.com/share?songid=8887195 Until I can afford the full BIAB...(which I hear is hard to use) I will use Jam...good luck with it...hope this helps...Kimberly
