Hey kids,

This is just a little ditty I put together for my pal Wyman. Due to circumstances beyond my control, I missed a coffee date I had invited him to in the Shout Box last week, and I think he's still pretty sore at me. So, I just wanted to reiterate that I'm sorry....and thought it might be fun to turn the whole episode into a lyric...

Though we've known each other for a while now... I've historically yanked his chain about his reluctance to share personal information in exhaustive detail (vs. me, Miss-Wears-Her-Heart-On-Her-Sleeve). Hence the song, "Why Oh Wy?" There are a couple of inside-jokes...so forgive me if it isn't all clear on the surface. Regardless, I hope you enjoy it...

Thanks,
Beth

"Why Oh Wy?"
(c) 2012, Beth G. Williams, BMI

There once was a fella named Wy
He sure was a helluva guy
He planted zucchinis
And wrote of bikinis
His humor was notably dry

He hailed from the state of Missouri
And he always got up pretty early
His love for caffeine
Was nearly obscene
And he staged more than one hurly burly

I thought I knew him from The Box
But Wy was wily as a fox

Why oh Wy
Are you still such a mystery?
You tease me with clues here and there
Why oh Wy
Can't I eke out your history?
I thought you'd be willing to share
Why oh Wy
All this frustrating trickery?
Is there some sordid detail you hide?
Why oh Wy
Want this switch made of hickory?
(A silly rhyme, sure, but I tried)

I know that he once was deployed
That his knees...at least one...were destroyed
But his picture's misleading
A stick figure, leaning
Just who is this man, Wyman Lloyd?

I thought I knew him from his songs
But Wy was a wise guy all along

Why oh Wy
Are you still such a mystery?
You tease me with clues here and there
Why oh Wy
Can't I eke out your history?
I thought you'd be willing to share
Why oh Wy
All this frustrating trickery?
Is there some sordid detail you hide?
Why oh Wy
Want this switch made of hickory?
(A silly rhyme, sure, but I tried)

Bridge
I hope deep down he knows I jest
Cause silly Wy you are the best
True friendship always stands the test
Let's just forget about the rest

Why oh Wy
Are you still such a mystery?
You tease me with clues here and there
Why oh Wy
Can't I eke out your history?
I thought you'd be willing to share
Why oh Wy
All this frustrating trickery?
Is there some sordid detail you hide?
Why oh Wy
Want this switch made of hickory?
(A silly rhyme, sure, but I tried)

Thanks for all those Cookie orders

I'm claiming "foul"... 'cause I think Beth has employed that famous Orloffian Lyricist to write this thing for Welshman Wyman. (He may be hiding out in Missouri... but make no bones about it... he's descended from Welsh Royalty.)

Just 'cause you miss making connections on the shout box... an entire Lyric is created. (I still think Lynn Orloff wrote it... LOL!) I forgot to send a song to Bethyboo and she's probably gonna expect me to write an apology song for her now. (Oh Lynn... Ms. Orloff... can you create a Lyric for me to send Beth?) Yeah, that woman in Massachusetts who breaks limbs and burns things accidentally every now and then.

Seriously... it's a cute Lyric. Have you musicated it yet, Beth?

Hey Y....

Glad you stopped by to take a peek at this grin (wasn't sure if you would eek ).

Alas, no, I didn't see any comment in the Shout Box for me...but I'll take your word for it wink . Yeah, just stepped away for a bit. Luckily nothing broken at this end (though the night is young!).

Sorry no chocolate or cookies. I'm gonna have a little lemonade italian ice I think....

Hope to chat soon...

xo,
Boo

Hey Dave,

HA, it does have a certain Lynn-esque quality to it, doesn't it? Though had I known about the Welsh background, that would have thrown off my entire rhyme scheme ....

As for the song you were going to send me, no worries. If you can send it, great, if not, do not lose any sleep over it grin . On the other hand, if u can use it as fodder for a fun writing exercise, knock yourself out!!

Good to see you Dave, and thanks for checking this out...

Beth

Hey Beth!

LOL....catchy, catchy, catchy! Great fun... grin Let's not overlook some great rhymes in here....Missouri/early, caffeine/obscene, jest, best, test, rest....all fly by swiftly! Even in what she calls a "little ditty", Miss Beth has the craft down pat....impressive!

Very enjoyable!

Kristi

Howdy Doug,

Well, I just never know where I stand with that Wy...but I suspect we're back on the right track. I'm actually drinking coffee right now in his honor wink .

And YES on the "inspiration comes from the gosh darndest places sometimes". That's what made this one so fun -- I was trying to turn some lemons into lemonade.

I appreciate the visit smile .
