The Treasure That I Want To Find (C)11-2011 Ben C. Hodge
Most follow the road that is so wide Most follow the dollar- and it leads them to a great divide And in the end you have to pay the ultimate price No thats not the treasure that I want to find Rust cannot destroy what I've laid up so high Heaven sweet Heaven Will be so much better up there when I get off of this ten cent ride When I get up there- I'll get to see... the treasure that I want to find No one will remember your name-after a time.... Everything you gained will subside.... You really earned nothing- look what you sacrificed Should have called on Jesus... but his name you denied.... And the treasure that I want to find... It's not gold or silver- Or a big diamond mine No this is even harder to find Even though-if I rely on him Many blessings he will provide If I can just put him first Just put him first in my life Yes that's the treasure that I want to find... Most follow the road that is so wide Most follow the dollar- and it leads them to a great divide And in the end you must pay the ultimate price No that's not the treasure I want to find... Rust cannot destroy what I've laid up so high Heaven- sweet heaven Oh- it will be so much better up there When I get off of this ten cent ride When I get up there- I'll finally get to see The treasure that I want to find

My take on this one is that there may be a buried treasure awaiting each one of us when we get to the higher calling. Down here most of us seem to be more interested in buying the latest car or computer, don't you think? Am curious to know your take on what has become our annual shopping feeding frenzy and how there can be record sales when so many are losing their income and/or otherwise struggling?
Peace, Brian

well I came up with this song from a bible story about a man who stored up monetary treasure here on earth... and was called a fool as he gets to spend an eternity in hell.. the bible talks of storing up treasures in heaven where moth and rust cannot destroy...
Years ago, at one time- I really chased the dollar... and just knew with a big house and to be at the top that was the pinnacle.. but in the end I lost my family.. I do look to be successful- have lots of money and be the best and whatever I do...Now remarried with a wonderful wife, I look to build another family...
However, I want to give credit to the Lord for the talents he has given me...try and put him first, and go on faith that he will provide for me in my life..
I realized in my life without him it is empty inside.. I should have learned from the teachings of Solomon but I had to learn the hard way...
I do love Christmas.. its great to spend time with family and give and receive gifts...but the real reason is to celebrate the Birth of Jesus... many kids just are so spoiled- just wanna open presents and cry if they don't get exactly what they asked for... Parents have sent the wrong message- they set the example so a lot of blame goes on them...
The big picture is I've always seen America as truly wonderful.. I see a lot of things I can't stand because good people have said nothing... I don't see it being fixed.. I just have to live the best life I can and try not to dwell on it as much..

You are right about how many have lost the true meaning of Christmas. Sadly it's not just the kids that want more presents or bigger gifts. I know quite a few adults who also seem to think Christmas is nothing without gifts. I love to give and see the happiness on the face of someone I love when they open a present but this year I won't be giving much as I am unemployed. All I want for Christmas is to spend quality time with my family but all they want is to fight and complain about everything. They don't want to be together and expect lots of gifts that I can't afford. It's really got me down.
You have a nice set of lyrics her. I hope you are having a blessed holiday season. Take care!

My mom is in bad health this year, and I do hope we have a good Christmas... Me and my brother got them a Tv last year and a laptop... they were genuinely suprised... they were mad we spent so much, but they sure appreciated the gifts... thats a small price to pay for all I put them through over the years...
Unfortunately, very tough economic times for us.. and going to spend much less, but will have a great time just to all be together...

Do you feel we are stuck with this annual feeding frenzy forever? Sure seems like it, as every year it just seems to get more publicized. Makes you wonder how people could spend so much if there is so much depravity around. I don't believe this is what the Three Wise Men intended when they brought the gifts to the manger. Do you?
The last few years my parents were alive they insisted that I not get them any Christmas gifts, that I needed to save my money. But they insisted they get me something. Of course, they are from the generation that intended to spoil their children as much as possible because they had the misfortune to grow up during the Depression years. Nobody is saying we're in Great Depression II now, but I sometimes wonder.

you know it is sad how parents are fighting over gifts on black Friday... it's not how it used to be... in general people only seem to lookout for themselves... personally a opinion of mine is the devil can turn something so beautiful into something entirely different as it was meant to be.... I thought a cell phone was a good idea in case you are broke down or something and need help... now I'm not so sure... kids cant communicate- no joke we brought 2 of them back home from church and they were sitting there texting each other... there are still a lot of good folk out there- just have to look a little harder these days.. you asked about a great depression... I believe we've been in one going on a few years now...

"If someone is truly a jerk, or truly is not deserving of any positive reply from you, polite indifference is the best response you can give. Do not insult. Do not slam. Do not follow the urge to be nasty. Simply be politely indifferent." –Brian Austin Whitney
