One for the voluntary simplicity folks. Relationships too can get more complicated and stressful once too much stuff is involved.
WHEN ALL THEY HAD WAS LOVE
c2011 Brian Beecher
She’d put their stuff up for sale Today as challenging trends prevail And find pleasant pursuits to keep Her mind occupied
Ideas and schemes may be brimming over now But she’ll get along without him somehow And ways of letting the cares of the World pass her by
But way back when all they had was love Each day was a romantic day Her mind travels back as she looks up above Way back to when all they had was love
Is there someone with whom he can share The finer things in life, whey should she care The romantic tones of yesterday Have now disappeared
On a limited income she has to keep tabs Otherwise money can easily slip through her hands Now she’s trying her best to sell off the Once happy memories
But way back when all they had was love Each day was a romantic day Her mind travels back as she looks up above Way back to when all they had was love
So today and over the next days She’ll unload everything As her mind can’t be swayed
But way back all they had was love Each day was a romantic day Her mind travels back as she looks up above Way back to when all they had was love Way back to when all they had was love

HiDee Bro Brian!
I think this focuses on the Side Issues, of Her selling off Trinkets, and misses the Main Issue, WHY this Romance Busted-Up.
Garage Sales aren't as-interesting as All-The-Sizzling-Details...for the Average Listener...JMO.
The "love/above" rhyme is mighty cliche...alas. "Her mind travels back when they had enough" might work..KOS.
Good Luck with it...
Best Wishes & a Big Guy-Hug, Stan

Brian, I'm giving this one a bump to increase participation in Forum 2 and because I've really been attracted to most of your song ideas. Maybe revisiting this one and directing a few minor changes to keep the thoughts on either "All we/they had was love" or the other song here about all that she's getting rid off? Or tying them together with more images?
Let us hear the re-write please
Pam

"If someone is truly a jerk, or truly is not deserving of any positive reply from you, polite indifference is the best response you can give. Do not insult. Do not slam. Do not follow the urge to be nasty. Simply be politely indifferent." –Brian Austin Whitney
