Drinkin'
Verse Folks, liquor stole my life from me
When I was just a child
An' no one knew, not even me
That a craving drove me wild
It changed my personality
It even changed my heart
It gave me power over things
That broke my loved ones hearts
Chorus Yes DRINKIN' broke my give a damn
An' gave me go to hell
Prescription drugs an' bathtub blends
All filled me with myself
The things I did were no good news
An' never ended well
Folks DRINKIN' broke my give a damn
An' gave me go to hell
Verse I contemplated suicide
To sooth my aching head
I never thought I'd live to see
A treatment center bed
The loved ones that I'd given hell
Gave me the will to live
The one thing that I wanted most
That only love could give
Repeat Chorus Yes DRINKIN' broke my give a damn
An' gave me go to hell
Prescription drugs an' bathtub blends
All filled me with myself
The things I did were no good news
An' never ended well
Folks DRINKIN' broke my give a damn
An' gave me go to hell
Bridge Lord Jesus can you help me please
I've hurt the ones I love
Can you take this strange disease
An' touch us with your love
"Cause DRINKIN' broke my give a damn
An' gave me go to hell
Yes DRINKIN' broke my give a damn
An' gave me go to hell

Wow...that is intense and nearly made me cry....It is written with real emotion and healing....and I might add...the power of love and redemption. I am moved by this one, Robert.

G'Mornin' Brother Robert!
I agree...this IS a pretty Strong One, Amigo!
Lyrically, 2 minor nits: "Heart/Hearts" and "Love/Love" rhymes, in V1 and the Bridge.
Well-Penned overall, & definitely HAS that "Been-There" feeling to it.
Good Luck with a Good'n' Amigo! Best Wishes & a Big Guy-Hug, Stan

Thanks so much! I wasn't sure about the hook since presciption drugs and bathtub blends are Not about drinkin' however most folks know what follows the first drink and that is where the song starts. Anyway, thanks for the generous comments, it's always good to find some, I am very blessed and love to be able to share that with all of you! and forgive me if I ever seem like an ass, I know I get carried away sometimes and end up regretting my entries here. God bless!

"If someone is truly a jerk, or truly is not deserving of any positive reply from you, polite indifference is the best response you can give. Do not insult. Do not slam. Do not follow the urge to be nasty. Simply be politely indifferent." –Brian Austin Whitney
