There is a lot going on here, but to me, the core of the site is the three lyric boards and the MP3 song board. In the lyric boards you can post lyrics for critique and look for collaborators and in the MP3 section you post in-process (or finished) songs that have lyrics and music (or instrumentals).
Post one song at a time with lyrics and folks will give you their opinion on it. At the same time, feel free to critique others. Basically if you critique others a lot, you will get more critiques on your own stuff.
Feel free to ask any other specific questions.

The way all of these sites work are that you come to the table with questions,with comments, post songs, respond to other people's questions and comments. It is simply like being a part of any community. You get out what you put in.
Visit other listening areas, read the lyric postings, join in on discussions. If you let people know about yourself they can get to know you faster. If you work on getting to know them they will get to know you back.

I listened to some of your songs on Reverb-you are a very talented composer and I am sure you are doing well out there in Hollywood or will do well in the future no doubt.....I see you went from Louisiana to Hollywood.....wow what a change huh........best of luck out there and enjoy all that JPF has to offer....you might be new-but you are as much a member as any of us and we look forward to your questions or input in all the different forums and boards here.......

Let me also welcome you to JPF. It is a great place to observe trends, share successes and failures, post lyrics, songs or compositions (or not) and generally scout out things that interest you musically on either the general board, musicians board, songwriters board or any of several other categories.
It is "all about participation" but many simply "lurk" without posting. It's difficult to form relationships that way but some folks here have already achieved success musically and don't really need that. (I'm not speaking for myself... I'm miles from achieving my objectives... that's primarilly why I'm here... to learn, develop acquaintances and share "war stories" with all the good folks here.)
I hope you visit often and just "chime in" on a subject of interest to you. Enjoy!
