Just want everyone to know that my insurance came into effect 2/1/10. I'm out of town working until Monday and my work's insurance main office of Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Illinos is my insurance....they just called me to confirm it is in effect..
ok, now to update you on me.....
I'm having a colonscopy next Tuesday to see just what is going on in my colon, etc. my oldest sister that lives in Dallas was gonna pay out of pocket for that, but now she won't have to..
I still need test on my lungs, have 3 spots(?) there, and in my kidneys I have 3 (?) spots and a lesion, which maybe nothing at all..and ok this one is the one that's a little touchy, and it's because i'm such a big whimpy baby and i'm sorry for that..medical people are the worst patients...
I had blood work, an MRI, CT scan and I do have a 3mm spot of cancer on my liver, and 2 more spots?)..the doctor says the type I have responds very well to medicines....and I will lose some of my hair, but not all of it...the chemo I take is a low dose and it runs in , in about 3 hours through an IV..I have to have 4 doses over a 6 week period...last thursday was my first dose and it zapped me so hard, was on the doctors bathroom floor throwing up..I thought I was brave...you probably saw me talkin last week about been grounded at home from thurs till monday...well this is why....i'm fine and the doc says that 8 out of 10 people that have what I have after taking this chemo, does really well and has to have no other treatments...
So, I do ask all of you, please still send your prayers my way..still don't know bout my colon.. My sister was gonna pay as we went to help get this stuff done, but like I said, now she wont' have to so much, or probably not at all...she's been out alot already for the MRI and the CT scan and blood work and the first chemo treatment was bout $900 and she paid for that..
but what can I say...i've always been her favorite...
I'm feeling great today, last week was hard on me.. so nausated. but hey been there before.I know what I have so far is nothing ..and alot of others are alot sicker than i've been.and I do want to thank everyone for all you have done for me...
I promise I will not ever forget the love and the family feel I have received here....
WHAT A GREAT BUNCH OF FOLKS HERE....I LOVE YOU ALL
glyn

Thanks for the update. I think they say pot is good for that chemo nausea -- but I believe Texas frowns on that sort of thing (ha, ha). Good luck and I will keep you in mind with prayers and wishes.

Hi Glynda, Thanks again for your update. I'm so sorry you have to go thru all of this...but I'm grateful at least the financial worry is off the table. Does the infusion make you nauseous during or after? I know when I get my IVIG infusion, it lasts about 5 hours, but once they get the line in it's like a day at the spa (short of the pedicure and champagne !) Nothing worse than nausea though. Either way, I've certainly been thinking about you...and here's hoping that the rest of your procedures are uneventful from a prognosis standpoint. Good luck!! Beth

Such a great outlook and courage you have,
Pardon the yoda speak but it is how it felt. Glynda lots of folks would be whining about this. I admire your courage and outlook. You have my thoughts and well wishes for a speedy recovery. Chemo can be rough. Some folks tolerate it well some don't. I am a Cancer survivor myself so I'm with you all the way.

Thanks so much Bill, I can't even take pain meds, as soon as they hit my system I start immediately throwing up, same as the chemo last week, the needle wasn't in good till I was throwing up...I was sick all the way through it, after it, on the way home, and 4 days after I was still throwing up, maybe the chemo wasn't all that was making me sick, but man..
I have no time to whine, I have too much I want to do, and hey, being a medical person myself, I just don't like even tellin someone i'm sick and you all have helped me so much I just felt like sharing this with ya'll....and you know where my courage came from......yep, right here......iffin it wasn't for ya'll i'd be whining more too....thanks agin..

Yodel ay ee hoo
Here's a little song for Glynda You got these Nashville prayers You'll be lookin' real hot in your new hairdo And makin all the country boys stare
I'll get the folks down at Cowboy Church To say a few for you The Lord and his angels are gonna smile As they help to pull you through
Now while those doctors do their work You might be throwin up But when it comes time to test again There'll be nothin showin up
So give a little grin and wipe off your chin And laugh the chemo away Cause by the time springtimes here You'll be smilin on a sunny day
Yodel ay ee hoo
Here's a little song for Glynda Just a silly little tune From all the Nashville brothers Knowin' that you'll GET WELL SOON!
Amen!

Sister G, you are always in my prayers. A lot of folks don't know the extent of your life or the struggles you've been through...believe me folks, this woman is an angel from Heaven...I'm just glad that you're getting treatment and thinking positive thoughts for you. Knowing you is one of the nicest things that ever happened to me. I'm sure there are a whole lot of people that feel that way. Love ya, Sis!

Glynda,
You will be in my prayers tonight. Maybe they can give you some anti-nausea meds to help? I get really sick when I go under the knife. The last two times, they gave me some stuff for the nausea and I tolerated it better. Keep your chin-up and get some beautiful wigs. You can change your look every day! Also, they sell some really cute hats for chemo patients.
I wont' say "good luck" because the Lord will see you through.

Glyn,
Delighted to hear about the insurance! And what a great sister!
I've had three lesions on one of my kidneys for years. They've been static, haven't gone away, haven't gotten any bigger and they've not had any adverse affects.
Wishing for the best of all possibilities for you.
Alan

Glad to hear you got the insurance. That's a load off your mind so now you can concentrate on your treatments.
The nausea does not sound like much fun. I bet that in a few months you will be good as new with brand new hair to fuss with.
Thinking of you,
Colin

Hi Special Lady You are in this Aussie girl's prayers, and that's good news regarding your insurance Glynda. You have a lovely sister hah, God bless her too. Haven't been on the boards much in a while now. They have locked my Mum up in a Dementia Ward, just after Christmas, and it's not a nice place, so we are currently looking into finding her a better place hey, gosh, painful, I love my Mum very much, and she deserves the best care. Going tomorrow to look into a place close by here, and they reckon it's a fantastic place. You take care Glyn hah. Be back more soon. Lv Michele
