Hi Folks,
Okay.. the neighbors have lit up some lights around the roof of their house. My office faces their house across the street and this must be the day they picked to launch them. They also have the reindeer out front that are frames lit with white strand lights. The year is officially winding down!
I've had a wicked case of writers block for the last month since returning from the UK. I can't recall a time previously where I was less motivated than right now. After burning the candle at both ends and in the middle for most of an entire year leading to August, I think my mind and body have just said "enough" for a while. Some health issues are also rearing their ugly heads so that's always an energy sapper as well. I have been reaching out to some industry folks to get some important informational updates on Royalties for net radio play etc. and it seems like I am always working on something, but I still have that big old wall up that is blocking me from bursting forward in the way I normally do. (There's a partnership deal that has been stalled for a while that I think is a big culprit.. but we're trying to get that resolved).
The weekend is upon us and I am going to spend some time with Linda and just take a couple days off and relax... watch a bunch of movies, play some video games (we love playing XBox golf together) since it's now too cold to play real golf here in Indiana. We had our last decent day on Tuesday where it got up into the 50's... but I doubt we'll have more of those until 2010.
It's interesting to note that the entire music industry typically screeches to a halt this time of the year. (As does the film industry and other creative professions). I wonder if it's a DNA thing or something else that has led to that.
Well.. I am off to wake Linda up.. (she works nights so it's now morning for her). Oh.. by the way... I saw several JPF members among the Grammy nominees again this year.. including (but not limited to) 4 consecutive time winner Daniel Ho who once again has 2 of 4 Grammy nominations for Best Hawaaiian Album, Dean Pitchford (who I have a big interview with on the general message board), Cedric Watson, our Cajun Album winner, AR Rahman, our Indian Album winner and several others. Congrats to all!

Take care of yourself Brian..I know you've had lingering health issues for a while, and you and I are around the same age, and suddenly things are starting to fall apart. A lot of health issues I've ingored for years are coming back to haunt me, and I'd hate to see the same happen to you. We apprecite your hard work, but don't do it at the expense of your well being.

Our fun weekend of course got ruined when Linda got called into work today all night to cover for a sick co-worker. So much for a nice weekend together.

Well its now December 10 and I hope you had the chance since your last blog to get some R&R. As passionate as you are Brian you do need to take the time off for yourself. Take care.

Hi Doug,
Well.. not yet... and certainly Linda isn't getting any breaks as she's working harder at the moment than I am for sure. With the Holiday's coming I am guessing our fun weekend off will have to wait until sometime in 2010.
