WoW! It's hard enough to become a soldier and have the enemy try to kill you, but when one of your fellow soldiers turns on you, it becomes a bit much. Was this guy a misfit or insane, or an enemy transplant put there to do as much damage as he could. Wasn't he well up in rank, an officer or something. Man this world is going mad.

From everything out there, he is an American born Muslim. From everything I can see, it looks like he joined the military to further his education, never dreaming that we would go into a full scale war with Iraq and Afghanistan. After we did, his priorities changed. There is an awful lot being learned about him now and we probably won't know the full truth for quite a while. No matter what happens I can't picture anything I could, or would, want to forgive. All we may find, are reasons he may have used to justify this to himself.

our government is failing us by not securing all borders and ports and allowing any tom, dick, or harry(in this case a muslim one)to join our armed forces. We need to finish the mexico fence or wall and put more armed forces on all 4 sides of our country (we shouldn't have to do this but it's way past time)and it don't really matter which party affliation it is that makes it happen! This wasn't the first time this guy was causing trouble either so it's shame on our government again.

I don't, and won't, hold being a Muslim or any other religion against anyone. Fanatics and crazies will be what they will. The true Muslim religion is not about hate or killing all unbelievers, that is only the fanatics. There are millions of Musims out there who are very good, law abiding people. I think every religion has been persecuted at one time or another for misunderstandings. Lets not jump on that bandwagon.

John this guy was a time bomb ticking to go off way before the shootings and him being a muslim having to be sent to fight other muslims in any shape or fashion has a whole lot to do with the situation, and I know that in world war 2 when we were attacked in the pearl harbor base that anyone of japanese decent or looked asian were rounded up and housed then they got sorting done. Was this necessary? yes because it was a security issue and this at fort hood could have been prevented if they had not allowed him to be in the armed forces because of his religion

Just a thought... Also, would they have put this much focus on the shooter's religion had he been a Christian?

I can somehow see some of your points... BUT....America has been attacked by people such as Timothy McVeigh and he appeared on the outside as Amercian as one can look... If we start screening someone as to how they look from another country or religion then where do we draw the line? Any person, any religion can lose it and shoot people. As long as the guy was cleared properly then they done all they could...has it been addressed, but I have not checked, but the other shootings at Forts, were they a different religion And if someoone is going to decide what religion and who can be a part of our military, who decides what/who is allowed?? I am a Christian and I have no problem saying that and I have my beliefs about those who do not believe in God, or salvation, as far as the afterlife, but nonetheless, when it comes to our country and its military, if we start blackballing our military to only, as some people feel, are God fearing Baptists...then we are shooting ourselves in the foot by losing many a man and woman willing to fight for America...and die for her. This is a horrible thing that has happened...It breaks my heart. But we need to look at the person who was responsible as a person who, unless we find out otherwise, was just a poor soul that got scared of war, freaked out and cowardly took others with him in his indecision to leave the military. Just my 2 cents worth. Now I will be even less popular on this site.. and I won't argue over this as it does no good, no one will agree with everyone. I just know my dad served in the military and some of the best men he fought with were from other religions, and races. Kim

It was simply because it's a lot more convenient {and easier} to identify someone of Japanese descent, than German or Italian. Also, it's going to take a while to sort out all the reasons the shooter in Ft Hood did what he did, but my hunch is that "he didn't want to go to war against fellow Muslims" is probably a little simlplistic...First of all he was a staff Psycologist, and probably wouldn't have seen combat. My grandfather fought in WW2 and was of german descent 1 generation removed from immigrating here, yet he had no qualms about defending the U.S against Germany, and I'm sure MANY U.S catholics fought Italian catholics in the same war. Besides, if that were TRULY his motivation, couldn't he just go AWAL or shoot himself in the foot or something? I'm sure there are plenty of other Muslims in our military serving this country with honor, and it's not cool to paint an entire religion with one broad stroke because of the senseless actions of one idiot. P.S lets not forget that MANY muslims both American and foreign were also killed in the world trade center Sept. 11th.

That is the problem with stereotyping people. Not all Muslims are radicals that have a hatred of anyone who doesn't see their point of view. I think it's just a little more than naive for people to think that too. I like to believe that people are generally good no matter what race religion or creed their from. It's the same thing with the label of liberals and conservatives. If your a liberal you're an eccentric left wing lunatic or if you're conservative you a gun toting white sheet wearing hick from the south. There's no level ground for anyone anymore. IT's either you're psycho or your not.
It's disgusting what happened to all of those killed in Fort Hood, but to say it happened simply because someone is muslim? Open your minds. . .

I don't think most non Muslims have a real understanding of the Muslim as a religion. I sure don't. We constantly hear the Muslim faith is one of peace and harmony yet we see these Muslim Radicals blowing themselves up by the thousands to Martyr themselves killing Americans and Jews. When Americans die they celebrate in the streets. It doesn't matter if the victims are innocent women and children as long as they are Americans or Jews.
They can spin this story any way they want but this guy was a Muslim Radical Terrorist. It doesn't matter if he was American born or not he was still a Muslim Radical. The act he committed was no different than any other Muslim Radical Terrorist that straps a bomb on himself or flies a plane into a building. They all accomplish the same thing. Kill Americans.
There are probably a couple hundred thousand of these radical Terrorists all over the planet. Some are Taliban, some Al Qaeda, or many other groups under different names. They all have two things in common, They are Muslim and they Hate Americans or anyone who believes as we do and they will kill you if they get a chance. And they are here. Many of them will never act on their hatred but sooner or later one will.
Is there any other religion on the planet that condones this sort of thing? Is there any other religion on the planet that teaches so much hatred? For a Religion that is supposed to be so peaceful they seem to have an awful lot of folks that think mass murder is a way into heaven.
I don't understand their Muslim religion. I don't understand Islam. And quite honestly I don't think I want anything to do with them.
Unlike Naomi I no longer think people are basically good. I think people are good because they will get punished if they are not. They are taught to be good. Our Parents teach us. Society teaches us....or not. Take away that teaching and I believe most people will grow up without regard for life any more than a Lion regards the life of the prey it kills. Or these Radical Muslim Terrorists who kill in the name of their God.
What happened in Fort Hood is simply a way of life in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Lebanon, Israel, Etc. Etc. Anyone see a pattern yet? We get all freaked out about it, It happens every day in those countries. With Hundreds killed at a time. Over there it is an event when it DOESN'T happen.

I totally agree with Bill because he is right. When we were attacked on 9-11 it was then I started studying up on the muslim religion and went so far as to even look at the koran and what they believe in and I asked my best friend's brother in law(who was born in Iraq) more about their beliefs and I was astonished to their ways.He converted years ago to Christianity and is considered by his own family as a threat and they have vowed to kill him if he returned to Iraq because of their beliefs.I know I will catch all kinds of responses over what I believe but that's ok

There are a lot of radicals out there from EVERY religion. Think of how many people have died since the beginning of time over "MY invisible man in the sky is better than YOUR invisible man in the sky". Probably more people have been killed in the name of religion since the dawn of man than any other reason! There's ALWAYS been a problem with religious zealot nut-jobs from EVERY sector. Just seems like the Muslim radicals have the market cornered for the time being. BTW, this is not a knock on religion in general {to each his own} just the idiots {of ALL denominations} that see fit to kill in it's name.

There are plenty of Radical Christians. Who was blowing up abortion clinics? Who was boycotting Walt Disney over harmless cartoons and the support of gay pride? So because of them should all Christians be labeled Gay Hating Abortion Bombers. You can't just read about the story and say "Oh that radical Muslim [naughty word removed]". Stereotyping is wrong no matter who it's directed at. Bob is right there are radical extremists from every religion who take their faith's word to the max.

I don't disagree Naomi but this is NOT steroetyping. We are not at War with Christians, or Buddhists or any other religion. We are at war with Muslim Extremists who have declared Jihad on us. We are not at war with a country. We are at war with a religion. Like it or not. The people who practice that religion are Muslim or from Islam. They are different Sects of that religion. When someone can tell me which Muslim I must be wary of I will think differently. Right now I am suspicious of all of them. That doesn't mean I will do anything to harm them but I certainly will keep a watchful eye on them. This guy was a typical example of that. He was an Officer in our military. He was devout in his religion. The religion we are at war with. Everyone knew he was devout. He was outspoken and even professed his belief that Muslims should rise up against us. Yet to be politically correct and not offend Muslims the army did nothing, Now 13 people are dead and 28 shot... On our soil. I think blowing up abortion clinics or boycotting Walt Disney is a far cry from Taking down the WTC or Murdering people by the thousands. There are about 2000 Muslims in our Military. They are valued in their ability to help us understand the enemy we are fighting. As Translators. They are also in Iraq fighting our enemy. They are Americans who are Muslim. Just as was this guy. The difference is this guy was openly against our war with The Muslim Extremists.
You might want to read some of the information put out by CAIR (Council in America on Islamic Relations) Their own surveys indicated 70 percent of Muslims in America believed the Saudi form of Wahhabism should be taught to all Muslims. That is Osama Bin Laden's belief as well as the belief of the men who flew the planes into WTC on 9/11. Muslims who practice Wahhabism are the one's who are killing our people.
These people kill their own children, brothers and sisters for breaking their rules.
It seems this guy was talking about something like this for months. He prepared for it. Gave away possessions and cleared out his apartment. This appears to be planned and premeditated. I doubt very much if it was done in secret. It has been reported he even said his goodbyes. To whom did he say those goodbyes? Someone knew about this and they did not warn anyone. Any guess who?

I have to agree with Bill on one fact, we are basically evil, the bible said man's heart is evil. Only God can change man's heart. We can keep our evil desires under control (for the most part) on our own, but it is still there below the surface, and every once in a while, it rears it's ugly head, and something like this happens.

I believe in the basic goodness of man. I believe, with few exceptions, we have to either be taught or pushed into being evil. As far as other religions not being as bloodthirsty, how about the crusades? Or does anyone remember the reason why a lot of our forefathers came to America in the first place? There are not many religions out there without some blood on their hands. That doesn't mean I think religion is bad. It means "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone".
I think the army, and all the politcal correctness that has been pushed down our throats for so long, bears a good part of the blame. There is a reason why profiling exists, because it works. If you find a certain profile of person is in the highest percentage of people committing a certain crime, it is idiototic not to look at them a lot closer. DUH!!! If law enforcement, or someone else makes a mistake in trying to protect us, apologise, and move on. Take it out of the lawsuits and courts.

Bill I don't disagree that my comparison of Christian radicals and muslim radicals wasn't very "even". I just wanted to give an example of how there are radicals in every religion. As for Muslims you have to understand a little bit about there religion to understand the different view of both. It takes quite a bit of research to get the full affect. I've done hours of research and I'm still confused on a few topics. What I do know is there are basically two different sects that dominate the Muslim religion. Sunni Muslims and Shiite Muslims. This article is one I found a while back explaining differences between the two. http://hnn.us/articles/934.html Have fun reading it's not very lengthy, but the you'll have to utilize google quite a bit throughout the article. Let me know what you think.

The people who practice that religion are Muslim or from Islam. They are different Sects of that religion.
This got me to thinking of the Muslim religion like I think about music. I'm 53 and I grew up in 50s-60s rock and roll. Then I switched to country at a very early age. Pre 1990s country music is my music of choice. I know that in the sixties a lot of rock acts especially were into drugs big time. Yes, I know country artists were too but rock stars tended to glorify it. In the 80s people like Madonna and the Beastie Boys and Culture Club brought new outlooks on sexuality to the public. Yes, I know the earlier sexual history of rock and roll, you don't have to tell me. In the 90s hip hop and gangsta rap became big things. I view the Muslim extremists like those hip hop gangsta rap heroes. Many of them may not have committed crimes but they are committed to a belief system that endorses such behavior and rewards participants for it. I don't know much about the Ft. Hood shooter. Abuse and ridicule is always bad but I feel it had to be deeper than that. We don't know but he may have planned something like this for years. Suicide missions are not uncommon in Muslim circles. 30 years ago Khoemieni took power in Iran when the U.S. supported Shah was toppled. 25 years ago we supported the Afghans against Russia then supposedly deserted them which led to Bin Laden's hatred of us. About 19 years ago we invaded Iraq and defeated Hussein. Any one of these situations could have made the Ft. Hood shooter decide to infiltrate the U.S. military as deeply as he could just so he could kill unsuspecting soldiers in an effort to reach Nirvana and enjoy his virgins.

Naomi The Muslim(or is it Moslem? I'm even confused about that.) religion is a lot like Christianity in that there are different beliefs by different groups. Protestants, Baptist, Catholics, Lutheran, etc.
There is so much conflicting information it is hard to understand it. But if these are the people we are at war with I think it a good idea to try.
I think I have figured out the WTC attacks were carried out by Saudis who were followers of Wahhabism. I THINK Bin Laden follows this law.
This is what Wahhabi taught and believed; His instructions in the matter of extending his religious teaching by force were strict. All unbelievers (i.e. Moslems who did not accept his teaching, as well as Christians, &c.) were to be put to death. Immediate entrance into Paradise was promised to his soldiers who fell in battle, and it is said that each soldier was provided with a written order from Ibn 'Abd ul-Wahhab to the gate-keeper of heaven to admit him forthwith.
So what we have is a Muslim who has a large following who believe as he did. I think these are the Muslims we are at war with. They don't care if they kill soldiers, women, children, or your family dog as long as they are killing infidels. This makes them more dangerous. And the problem is you have no idea which Muslim belief they follow until they decide to kill you. Which is what happened in Ft Hood.
The other problem we have.
American efforts to combat this are hamstrung by the fact that its ideological and financial epicenter is Saudi Arabia, where an ostensibly pro-Western royal family governs through a centuries-old alliance with the fanatical Wahhabi Islamic sect. In addition to indoctrinating its own citizens with this extremist creed, the Saudi government has lavishly financed the propagation of Wahhabism throughout the world, sweeping away moderate interpretations of Islam even within the borders of the United States itself.
So tell me. How do we handle this?

Also, would they have put this much focus on the shooter's religion had he been a Christian? Are you kidding? I'm sure if he had been a Christian, there would be a whole lot more people talking about the narrow minded evil Christian religion. There would be far fewer posts taking up for those of like faith.

I'd be willing to wager most "Christians" can't recite the 10 Commandments much less follow them.

I don't mind giving someone the benefit of the doubt, but the Muslim Religion has had 8 years to denounce the radicals and clean up their own house. Very little has been done. That's why more people are skeptical now. Until they really start an honest effort to prove that they are peaceful, American sentiment will wane. It's happening now.

This thread got me thinking [OOOH NOOOO!}Did or did not Muhamad Ali refuse induction into the U.S Army on religious grounds {Muslim} Why then would ANY Muslim feel compelled to join the military?

The black Muslims in the 60's worshiped Elijah Mohammad(like Ali did). They killed Malcolm X. A nonviolent religion?

I still stand by my argument that I'm sure plenty of muslims have served this country honorably, but as an ignorant outsider I see some MAJOR inconsistency in their teachings. {Any Muslim JPFers out there care to enlighten us?}

Bob I think there are many denominations of the Islamic religion. It would be like asking someone to explain the Christian religion.
I think the folks we have to worry about are the ones who follow Sharia Law and the teaching of guys like Wahhabi.

maybe this will explain it better than I can: http://www.theobamafile.com/ObamaLatest.htmObama Urges Americans To Deny Reality It's been three days since the Muslim terrorist, Major Malik Nadal Hasan, calmly executed 12 soldiers and one civilian, and wounded 38 more people at Fort Hood, while chanting "Allahu Akbar" -- Arabic for "God is great." Our politically correct society has been excuse-making since -- except for those among us who are actually praising the jihadii's actions. Right away, the empathetic Obama, who wasted no time in saying a Cambridge (MA) police sergeant "acted stupidly" when he arrested Obama buddy, Skip Gates," urged Americans not to jump to conclusions, and not to dwell on the suspect’s religion. He added, "We cannot fully know what leads a man to do such a thing." Yo! Odumbo, maybe it has something to do with this. The ObamaMedia insist Hasan's terrorist attack is a tragedy, but it's not a tragedy, it's an act of war. Watch this soldier shot in the back describe Hasan calmly shooting while "screaming Allahu Akbar." The ObamaMedia is twisting itself inside-out, to avoid using the term, "terrorism," but the more that is known about the murderer, the more it becomes clear that this premeditated and deadly attack on unarmed soldiers and civilians was driven by his belief that Islam should rule the world. However, in politically correct America, this massacre will lead to intensified efforts to find explanations which fit into the progressive worldview. It just can’t be true that a serious adult like Hasan starts killing because he feels justified to murder infidels. Within hours, liberal commentators were able to find all kinds of explanations for his attack. The killer was a victim of verbal abuse or of a military that would send him, a soldier, to war. Or he was a victim of the insensitivity demonstrated by women (he wasn’t able to find a wife who was as religious as he was). Or whatever they can dream up to deny the very core of this man’s existence: his unshakable belief in Allah and His final Messenger. But a gunman who shouts "Allahu Akbar" while killing unarmed people is exactly what he purports to be: a killing warrior for his God. MSNBC weasle, Chris Matthews, was on board. In this video, he says, "It's unclear if religion was a factor in this shooting," and then begins the excuse-making. And who is Matthews relying on for expert advice? -- Nihad Awad, a founder of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and who serves as its executive director. CAIR is a Muslim extremist front organization that was identified as an "unindicted co-conspirator" in the Hamas funding case, along with the Islamic Society of North America and the North American Islamic Trust. Hasan worshipped at the Dar al-Hijrah mosque, named as the most dangerous mosque in America by Paul Sperry in his book "Infiltration" and is located in what he calls DC's "Wahhabi Corridor." The mosque was led by a radical imam who was a "spiritual adviser" to three of the hijackers who attacked America on Sept 11, 2001. Hasan attended the controversial mosque in Great Falls, Virginia, in 2001 at the same time as the three terrorists. His mother’s funeral was held there in May that year. The Imam at the time was Anwar al-Awlaki, an American-born Yemeni scholar who was banned from addressing a meeting in London last August because he is accused of supporting attacks on British troops and backing terrorist organizations. According to a fellow Muslim officer at the Fort Hood, Hasan’s eyes "lit up" when he mentioned his deep respect for al-Awlaki’s teachings. Hasan was a first-generation American Muslim, living a life of dissonance between his identity as an American and his ideology as a Muslim who had accepted a literal, rigid interpretation of Islam, akin to the puritanical Wahhabi and Salafi interpretations of Islam that define the theology of militancy inside the Muslim world today, according to Golam Akhter, who knew Hasan. "So many time I talked with him," said Akhter, a community leader who is sort of like a mosque gadfly, challenging congregants to reject literal, rigid interpretations of Islam. "I was trying to modernize him. I tried my best. He used to hate America as a whole. He was more anti-American than American." Despite all the conversations, Akther said, "I couldn’t get through to him. He was a typical fundamentalist Muslim." Hasan has said Muslims should "rise up" and attack Americans in retaliation for the US war in Iraq, and that he was "happy" when a US soldier was killed in an attack on a military recruitment centre in Arkansas in June, and "maybe people should strap bombs on themselves and go to Times Square" in New York." At Walter Reed, as an Army psychiatrist, Hasan was supposed to give a "grand round" -- a medical lecture. Instead, he treated medical personnel to a dawah session, trying to frighten them into Islam with threats of hell. Hasan made four assertions about the Koran: 1. "If you don't believe, you are condemned to hell" -- Koran 4:140; Koran 9:49; Koran 9:68; Koran 9:73 2. If you don't believe, "your head is cut off" -- Koran 8:12; Koran 47:4 3. If you don't believe, "you're set on fire" -- Koran 33:64; Koran 48:13; Koran 76:4 4. If you don't believe, "burning oil is burned down your throat" -- Koran 18:29; Koran 44:43-46 Some of the men who had befriended Major Hasan at the mosque in Killeen, Texas, said it was the military's fault that caused Hasan to snap, saying, "...the command should be held accountable -- G.I.'s are like any equipment in the Army. When it breaks, those who were in charge of keeping it fit should be held responsible for it," and ""...when a white guy shoots up a post office, they call that going postal, but when a Muslim does it, they call it jihad. Well, duh! That's what the Muslims who do it call it. Here's a round-up of Jihad in America just this past month -- and here's some more instance of "Sudden Jihad Syndrome." As the ObamaMedia pussyfoots around calling Hasan's attack a jihad action, many in the Muslim community applaud his actions. a Washington D.C. based Muslim named Khadeeja Nuur has created a FaceBook page offering prayers for the recovery of Ft. Hood jihadii: Together we pray for the recovery of Dr. Nidal Malik Hasan, MD. May Allah see fit to return this loyal son of Islam back to perfect health. Sallalahu Alayhi Wa Sallam. Muslims celebrating Hasan’s evil actions were leaving messages on her FaceBook pagei, hoping that Hasan gets well, agreeing with his actions, or at the very least justifying them. (once the page was publicized, real Americans started leaving a few choice comments) And hold onto your shorts! -- here is a video of American Muslims publicly celebrated Hasan's jihad in New York City, and the NYPD could only watch. The cops said that as long as there is not a physical threat, there's nothing that they can do. It's a free-speech issue, although it looks like sedition to me. Robert Spencer, an Islamic expert, said Major Hasan’s motive was perfectly clear -- but it was one that the forces of political correctness and the Islamic advocacy groups in the United States have been working for years to obscure. So it is that now that another major jihad terror attack has taken place on American soil, authorities and the mainstream media are at a loss to explain why it happened -- and the abundant evidence that it was a jihad attack is ignored. David Horowitz, a rehabilitated Leftist, describes America as "our brain-dead country," arguing a Muslim fanatic with an Internet site praising Islamic suicide bombers as defenders of their comrades is a Major in the U.S. Army with access to military intelligence and lethal weaponry. And it’s not as though the army didn’t know that he was a Muslim fanatic and supporter of the Islamic jihad against the West. He was under investigation for six months because of his anti-American, jihadist rants. He did not want to be deployed. He wanted to be discharged. Obama will fight hard -- really hard -- to make sure Hasan's jihad is not described as a terrorist attack, regardless of any evidence to the contrary. Why? Because the last thing Obama wants is to follow George Bush's record of having prevented any further attacks on US soil by having one happen on his watch in the first year of his coup. George Bush kept us safe for 8 years -- Obama, 9 months and 15 days. Remember Obama said this -- "In the wake of 9/11, my meetings with Arab and Pakistani Americans have a more urgent quality, for the stories of detentions and FBI questioning and hard stares from neighbors have shaken their sense of security and belonging. I will stand with them should the political winds shift in an ugly direction."

The black Muslims in the 60's worshiped Elijah Mohammad(like Ali did). They killed Malcolm X. A nonviolent religion? Worshiped? No. Many thought he was a prophet. And in a way he was. Even among the Black Muslims there were many sects and Malcom was breaking away from the more racist/violent sect of the religion when (and) why he was killed. Just so you know, there are several million Moslems living here in the US. Many serving honorably. I suggest you personally round them all up and do God's will. I'm more afraid of the ignorant, in-bred bigots that call themselves Christians.

Bob is right! More people have been killed in the name of their religions than there have been in any wars. Very scary fact!

http://atlasshrugs2000.typepad.com/...s-calling-card-soa-soldier-of-allah.htmlSoldier of Allah Atlas Shrugs is reporting that this is the card that Major Nidal Hasan gave to the infidels along with a Quran before beginning his terror attack. Pamel Geller asks if this lowlife jihadi be any more devout? He mosqued every day. Hated America. Hated the troops. Proselytized his co-workers. Planned his jihad and completed his mission. His head was shaved. What else was shaved? If his body was shaved like his head, then the military guys and law enforcement know and have known that this was jihad, and they are scamming us now. Now look at Hasan's professional card: Notice the "SoA" on the card? It stands for "Soldiers of Allah." SoA is followed by the abbreviation, "SWT." When writing the name of God (Allah), Muslims often follow it with the abbreviation "SWT." These letters stand for the Arabic words "Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala," or "Glory to Him, the Exalted." Muslims use these or similar words to glorify God when mentioning his name. "'I'm going to do good work for God." Byron York is reporting that these are the words of Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, a few hours before authorities say he opened fire on fellow soldiers at Ft. Hood, Texas, killing 13 and wounding 38. The Washington Post reports Hasan made the statement to a neighbor in his apartment building on the morning of the killings. Hasan reportedly told the woman he was leaving for Afghanistan soon, when in fact he was headed, heavily armed, to Ft. Hood. As a parting gift, he gave her a copy of the Koran. What is it with these "soldiers of god?' Just like the 9/11 terrorists, Hasan got ready for his jihad by frequenting a strip club and getting lap dances.

I'm more afraid of the ignorant, in-bred bigots that call themselves Christians. Nice Coz. So you are afraid of the majority of the members on this board? You believe they are all ignorant in bred bigots? So we are to assume from this obviously bigoted and racist statement that you are not a Christian? just wondering. But considering the comments on this thread about religion I sure am glad I am not religious.

I'm more afraid of people who call others disparaging names. People will use any excuse to do evil. Sometimes they will delude themselves in the name of God, in the name of reason, or in the name of righteous indignation against real or perceived disrespect.

Charles Krauthammer, a columnist for the Washington Post, former speechwriter for Jimmy Carter, and a board certified psychiatrist at Mass. Gen. Hospital said that this guy (who's training was provided by taxpayers) violated his Hippocratic oath by trying to convince his patients to convert to Islam when they were in a vulernable state of mind. Why would he do that? No excuse for it in a medical situation.
It reminds me of the 911 hijackers who used US flight schools for basic flight training and navigation. Enough training to be able to take over the controls of the plane and point it toward the World Trade Center.

aww c'mon Gary it was just a joke. I think Scott may have been trying to just break up the seriousness of all the political threads. I'm sorry for laughing, honestly, I didn't know it would offend you.

Naomi there are certain things that I value very much, and I cannot find humor in them, such as my faith in God, my concern of my country's well being, and my family's well being these are serious things and if our country had more concern of the serious things we need to fix then the other things would take care of themselves naturally and 1 of those things is securing our borders and ports. When our government is trying to force change down our throats, I for one won't swallow that kind of medicine because it ain't the healthy type.If they implement things of change that work like E-VERIFY that's another proven thing that would bring about good change but to try to take away my freedoms and control me like a puppet, beware cause the string that you try to control could become the ropes to strangle the puppeteer.

Oh don't get me wrong Gary I agree with you on a lot, you know that, from other posts. What Scott said just struck me as funny, and like I said it was just the visual. I wouldn't have laughed at it if I thought it would have offended you.

I guess the only two questions I have are: Do they have the death penalty in Texas? and Will he be tried in a military court or a civilian court? This is such a tragedy on soooo many levels. My heart goes out to everyone whose lives have been torn apart by this tragedy.
