When I first collected these, I called them phrases. The word I wanted was "sayin's" which is now in the chorus. The last line of each verse is like a punctuation mark. It enables the speaking rhythm to stop and make way for the sung chorus. I am grateful for all the help you have given me. It was fun to read all the phrases you supplied. My favorite of all of them is "rode hard and put away wet!!" I can't wait to say that to someone!! I've felt that way often.

The only nits I have are that the "og" rhymes at the end of verse 1 and 2 seem to come out of nowhere. As does my favorite line. I'm suspectin that with music, it ain't gonna matter none...

The other thing is:

Got one in the oven
Can’t stop loving

Think I'd switch these lines around so it reads:

Can't stop lovin
Got one in the oven.

But that's just me... don't want to put the horse before the cart, if'n ya know what I mean, Jean!

The horse is now before the cart.

The rhyme of the last line of the first and second verse is purely accidental. Hearing it sung with the chorus and the length of the verse may help so people won't the think the last lines should all rhyme.

However, if it presents a problem when I record it, I will change it to just boar or bull.

I like the phrase a lot and the "hog" gives it an extra beat in the rhythm of the line. I'll think about it some more though, because if it pokes you in the eye like that, it could indicate a stumbly. Thanks for helping make it better.

This is real cute, and would no doubt be a lot of fun to sing! Only "nit" I saw----and it's not a "nit" really---is in the chorus, "they're are".....hmmmm....seems a tad grammatically incorrect. I'm sure that was just a typo, though.

The other thing I was wondering about was the hook/title. It's kind of lost as the second to last line of the chorus. Plus....the verses are spoken, not sung....so you're really doing "say it country". You might want to think on that....

You are correct. The "'re" is a cut and paste error. Thank you, I fixed it.

My original chorus was:

Long as they are sung to a Country tune.

are good enough fer me.

Then I had other suggestions. So I changed it.

How about if I revert but make it:

good ol' Country sayin's!
I don't care if they're cliches.
Them good ol' Country sayin's,
I don't care if they're passe.
They can rhyme with moon,
They can rhyme with June,
Long as they are sung to a Country tune.
Them good ol' Country sayin's
are good enough fer me.

Good fix...it works now! By the way, I've made the same mistake....finished a song, and then found out something wasn't quite logical between what I said...and what I did or what I said I was going to do....if that makes any sense (LOL)!

Jean, Of course, this old hen died laughin'. That was just another old country sayin' "amen" to your lyric.
I still "hear" this being ripped off more sing-song like "I've Been Everywhere" instead of just plainly spoken. I thought at first that the "og" was a bit abrupt to en the first verse but as fast as this thing moves you're into the second verse with the first rhyme to the "og" and it works quite well, IMHOP. Sometimes in songs that move so fast, it doesn't pay to try to dissect them slowly for nits, it seems to me because then nothing will fit...but you've done a "bang-up" job gettin' alot of those old sayin's in here. I think your inspiration took you somewhere with this one and I really think this could be very commercial. They're always looking for upbeat tempo songs and I think with the right tweaking of a melody you'd be right at the top of the number 10 list with this one.
You probably have gotten me started throwing oldy sayin's at you now as they come to my mind, with a grandmother full of them and then my husband too I should have a large book's worth. Best wishes on a very good put to gether lyric.

Jean, I believe you went and redid the whole chorus and you know really dwelling strong on the country sayin's in the chorus IS better than tryin' to get more of those cute phrases in there. That'll leave you with more to make up another song, it may seem a bit much but you're talented enough you'll figure out how to do that without taking away from this one. Yep! I think you did yourself a favor with this chorus, this really should rip right on off. No doubt about it.

On that Chorus it could be even funnier if you make cliche into a new country word
Sing it as Cli- chai- ses and let it rhyme with Phras- es.

I now it's silly but that is what you need in the song the singer being gramaticaly
incorrect.

I kind of did that in one of my previous chorus versions, but rhymed it with passe. But I wrote a new chorus that leads into the verses better. I'll save that for another song, I still have plenty of phrases left. Thank you for the comments and the read.

Oh yeh, there's one about a man being two loads shorter than a double barrel shotgun.
As to the being rode hard and put away wet, that carries a sexual connotation BTW.
So means you gonna have to get a sexy song to goin', eh?
Ok, now here's what's been takin' place seems like to me. The crossin' of a proverb with a punch line and it comes out with a bit o' wit n wisdon to help us along life's road.
