It's just a cheapie, but it'll be nice to play with something so different-sounding. Maybe it'll spark my songwriting fire again. It's a Regal, single-cone resonator. Nice bass response and a lovely neck that plays real nice. Yay, me!!! I have a chrome plated bell brass Dobro in mint condition that I wanted to sell. Then all the "cheaper" ones came out, and I doubt I'll get a good deal on this.
I like the sound of them too - thanks to Mark Knopfler's "Romeo and Juliet", I had to get one. At that time the originals from the '30's were around $3,000 and in bad shape. I didn't want one that bad, but the new Dobros were only about $1,000, so I got one of those. I never use it much, so it sits and looks cool.
