Hi Folks,
I rolled in from the Cincy show at just before 3AM and then tonight from Columbus at 1AM and just now getting to emails at 3am.. (I am seeing a trend here).
So far the roadtrip is off to a great start. Lots of artists, lots of nice people and I've found several seriously talented people at both shows already. I do have to say that Jenn Cristy is probably the best acts I've seen so far this year and certainly is among the top 100 I've seen in the 10 years we've been doing this. (And the 15,000 artists we've had at shows). She totally energized the room and we gave her band an extra song because frankly the room of other artists wanted it and demanded it. When you can blow away 40+ other artists you're doing something.
Tonight in Columbus we had a much more diverse show with Folkies, Rap artists, R&B/Pop, Contemporary Singer Songwriters, Gospel, Country, Reggae, Inst. Jazz.. all out of only 16 performers. How's that for diversity? = )
I am already exhausted and have a 4 hour drive to Pittsburgh in 6 hours.. but wanted to check in here. It may be a while until I get the group photos and performance pics posted, but I will eventually.
Thanks again to everyone who has participated so far.
And that GR show is really stacking up to be a great one and Chicago will be a two headed monster, starting off with 45 artists on Wednesday and then 55 on Thursday including over a dozen full bands.
Brian
PS: I do hope the future shows will be a little more supportive in buying hats and T-shirts. That's been the only bummer so far. We've done 2 shows with over 60 performers and sold 3 t-shirts, 0 hats and gotten about 30 dollars in donations. That doesn't cover gas.. hopefully our Pittsburgh friends will reverse that trend tommorow (I guess tonight technically) night.
