I'm going to be looking into mics by these two companies and would like to know any users personal favs from Sennheiser or Neumann. Also, I'd like to know why.
Thanks,
Jody

Hi,
I'm a pro vocalist and the studio I work extensively at, uses a Neumann U87 for vocals. It's a nice mic..good sound. Very sensitive.
I once got the chance to use the Neumann U47 and for female vocals it was really something else!
FYI: The Manley Vox-Box is a my favorite rack for vocals!
Peace, Christine

I have a TLM103 that I really like a lot. Between it and my AKG 414B-ULS, one of them will match most vocalist's voices very well. I've use a 441 on occasion for a vocalist (in the past), but it's been a few years. I've also used the 421 a lot for drums, but I don't think they make any large-diaghram condensers. I've also used a U87 a lot in the past. No question, it's a good mic and very versatile. I'm not partial to the TLM103 for acoustic guitar, though - but some people like them, depending on the guitar, I suppose. I prefer the AKG or I have a pair of A/T 4041s that are really nice for that. Another brand to check out if you haven't is Lawson. Their L47MP is a dream mic - real creamy, but present and clear. www.lawsonmicrophones.com A couple of other really good brands are Soundelux and Brauner. Check out www.mercenary.com They handle a lot of higher-end equipment, including microphones, and give really good service. ------------------ Larry www.audibleresponse.com
