Purchased a 1990 Fender Jazz, made in the USA. It looks, feels, plays and sounds great. RLBerry

Lucky guy. Is it the American with the active or passive pickups? If it's passive and/or you plan to do a lot of recording, I'd recommend a nice pre-amp. I carry an ART Mic Pre, I got mine used for $80, There are a lot of good mic pres and interfaces, many studios have them, but many don't. And, once you get used to your own pre-amp, you can get a lot out of it (I've had engineers use my ART over high dollar units.) Even with active, you might like the sound of a good pre-amp going into your amp. Live, a mic pre becomes a good DI, it's a great tool. ------------------ Mike Dunbar Music
You've got to know your limitations. I don't know what your limitations are. I found out what mine were when I was twelve. I found out that there weren't too many limitations, if I did it my way. -Johnny Cash It's only music. -niteshift Mike Dunbar Music

Mike, the serial number is N004965 and says Fender Bass made in the USA. I think the N stands for 1990 and it has 2 J-style Lace Sensor pickups, volume/pan control, concentric treble/bass control, active electronics. I belive it is a Jazz Plus. I'm new at this and the person I bought it from didn't play it, so he didn't know much. I just know I wanted a Fender Jazz. Can you add anyting else? Richard RLBerry

It's a very good bass. It should deliver a balanced, modern sound. You can dial in the two pickups for a great slap sound as well as a round full bottom end for big ballads. What's your amp? ------------------ Mike Dunbar Music

Have an old Peavey Bass Speaker cab with two fifteen inch speakers and plugging the bass into my Roland Cube keyboard amp and using the Peavey as external speakers. Looking for a pre-amp as you suggested and an up to date amp. Richard
