we went hunting for the original to what we did and what folks thought back in 2002 about this song. Re-reading these comments both tickled me and made me cry.

We are beyond thrilled that....Some Day Some Way has been nominated under the Children's songs
in the JPF Music Awards... and the CD, Miss Willow's Fence Row has been nominated under Children's Albums....

I don't know about Wy ...but I'm still flabbergasted.... It is incredible to have something we've believed in and invested so much time and heart into,...have confirmation in such a beautiful way.

To all who commented or took time to read this back in 2002...We thank you. I have to get back to packing. We are moving in a little over 6 weeks......but thought maybe some folks might like to see its start. miss you guys...
Kaley...

Here are the mp3 recordings ...Amy Moser Vocalist,
James Coffey Producer....and the 2nd...the original
piano melody.

this is from a series of songs..
a baby fox is singing this.

Melody is set on this...but...
if you see better wording...feel free to offer
or anything else....ya might see...

thanks much...Kaley [Linked Image]

Some Day, Some Way
c2002
Lyrics: Kaley Willow, Wyman Griffith
Melody: Kaley Willow

verse 1
In the forest there's an old oak tree
And underneath, I know there'll be
A splendid den, with table set for three
Where Mama bakes black berry pies
And Papa waits with twinkling eyes
For a little fox..who looks a lot like me...

Chorus
Some Day...Some Way.......
Some one will Love me
SOME WHERE.. there's SOME.. place for me..
Some Day.....Some Way...
I'll find a home
and family... to call my own

verse 2
Each day, I'll wake to honey buns
Fluff my fur, and when that's done
Do chores and run outdoors to have some fun
When night-time skies bring lullabies
Mama will hug me oh so tight
While papa says, I love you, little one

Some Day...Some Way......
Someone will love me
SOME WHERE.. there's SOME.. place for me..
Some Day...Some Way
I'll have a home
And family to call my own

bridge
Though it might not be tomorrow
I'll NEV ER give up hope
I'll follow every wooded Pathway
Until...I find.........My ....HOME..

Some Day...Some Way...
Someone will love... me
SOME WHERE.. there's SOME.. place for me..
Some Day...Some Way.....
I'll have a home
And family to call my own

Howdy Kaley,

So great to see you posting some new children's songs again!! [Linked Image] This is lovely. There is only one line that I stumbled over and it just seemed too long to fit with the corresponding line in the verse above it:
Do chores and run outdoors to have some fun

Since you already have music you have probably resolved that, but I just couldn't find the meter in that line. I am with Teri on this..Think Disney.

Bobbie

They'll tell you success in the music biz is all about who you know...but the truth is...it's about who knows you.

Howdi..B.G.,

Wells....thank you mightily kindly.....

well that line..has to be hit with the emphasis..on ...do CHORES...cause..if you
hit DO...emphasis...you're right.....
but...syllable wise..and..singing...it with
the emphasis..on .Chores,,each word..corresponds..with a note...(me thinks.)..and then..Hit..DOORS with same emphasis.......

We thank you..B.G...i see what you're saying...
cause..when...i'm..attempting to sing it
i have to remember..to accent it there..

appreciate you stopping by .. [Linked Image]..

Hi Kaley,

I will return the favor of the reply. This is very nice, flows great. I agree Disney, reminds me of the "Somewhere out there" song
a few years back from American Tale.

How about a small change in the chorus so it doesn't mimic the other hit song.

Some day ...some way
your heart will find...me
Some how, somewhere... a place to be
Some day ... some way
I'll have a home
and family to call my own

Keep it coming, Kim

Kaley [Linked Image]

edit.... found it... boy...we just added the somewhere this afternoon....

do you think it's too close.?....I remember the song..now...Linda Ronstedt.(sp.)

this is the one you're referring to?
Somewhere out there
If love can see us through
Then we'll be together
Somewhere out there
Out where dreams come true

Hi Kaley. This is very cute. It made me think of that song Kim referred to as well. That movie was about a lost mouse, I believe. He was not orphaned though...but don't quote me on that. Kim's fixes would eliminate any comparisons, however how small. This stands on its own, regardless. Nice work!

Great chorus Kaley. I don't have contacts with Disney any more. I used to be their distributor of records and movies. But yup, this is Disney material. Write a story based on this.

Hi Corey, Kaley said I had to take one. I don't know the other song that well, but from what Kaley quoted, I don't see it that close. we'll see what others think, Maybe run it by somebody in the industry, before we commit with it. Thanks for looking

Howdi..Corey, thanks...Glad you liked this..

Wy and I have discussed that chorus...and
will give it some more thought. the melody
is pretty well locked into that chorus..
It may come down to..."IF" it would go farther,
and a publisher asked us to change it,
we would.

thanks for taking the time..to look and think about the lyrics...

best wishes [Linked Image]

I don't see anything that needs changing, Kaley. It seems good as is . The chorus has a wistful quality about it.

Is this a song about a baby fox waiting to be born? Or about an orphaned fox?

Or about a baby fox, running away from a bad home and looking for a better one?

It could be any of those things.

It does sounds like it belongs in a musical but if it is a stand alone song, then maybe consider a little intro at the beginning of the song to give the listener a clue about the status of the little fox and the dream of finding or being born into a good home.

Corey and Stan...

thanks you guys.... Glad you liked it...

Corey, Wy and I have taken a look at
the American Tale Song Chorus... (the verses
are totally different).. and the only thing
we really see....is the word somewhere...
the melody's won't be close.....honestly
can't think of that other melody.....but..
can't imagine them bein close....so..hopefully it will stand on it's own.... we appreciate...your thoughts on it.....thanks much.

Stan...So you worked...as a Disney Distributor...that sounds like a fascinating job.!!! thanks so much for stopping by and
commenting.

'round me......We're not able to say much more than that.... The actual name of this project....was in the lyrics..of this song
but...we had to pull it and change a couple
words...for posting purposes....because
we're being told. the project title.. is quite original.

we can tell you ....this is..a little orphaned fox....who knows some day, some way
he'll find a family to call his own.
My daughter...is pretty
serious when she asks...Who is he gonna find for his Mom and Dad,...and what are there names....(she is adopted....and was some of the inspiration...for this song).......

thanks..for asking..

HI Kaley!

I am fond of Syrupy KIDS Songs, and this isn't all that Syrupy, just very pleasantly Sweet.

Super Job, Super MESSAGE!

"KUDOS!"

Good Luck with it. There's something called "Film Jobwire", best I recollect, that runs around $11 a Month to Subscribe to, has near-daily Castin' Calls for Movie Tunes. I'll email the URL to ya if you want it.

Big Hugs,
Stan

Ray...I like that bonzer word....sounds
like something..my dog would say.....or does...when he trys to climb
in the pantry..Would be neat to write a song using that ...You should try it..!!!.. thanks so much...for
stopping by...!!!....

Jean...Glad you stopped by and thought it was good.. He's..an orphaned fox...
Hopefully song won't be...standing alone but will be animated..or accompanied by illustration.

Kaley

A beautiful lyric. You can almost see the hope.

You spoke of better wording. The two spots I saw for an alternative word are both in the first verse

In the forest there's (STANDS) an old oak tree
and underneath, I know there'll be
a splendid (COZY) den, with table set for three
Where Mama bakes black berry pies
and Papa waits with twinkling eyes
for a little fox..who looks a lot like me...

Dont' know if that helps but it's hard to critique something that is so good starting out.

Outstanding Kaley, you own this niche. Someone said Disney... maybe send a bunch of your stuff to Disney... as they say, if you don't go fishing, you don't catch any fish

Ciao

If writing ever becomes work I think I'm going to have to stop

Hi Kaley gal!

Well I just love this, sniff, sniff! Kind of sad the little critter singing about a family he wishes he had. I'm touched.
