Long story short - this is the pop version of this song....some words have been since changed...not on this vocal...looking for general feedback please as this is not a finished production ![[Linked Image]](http://www.justplainfolks.org/ubb/smile.gif) Also curious- who could you hear singing this? Until Now (c)2001 Lyric by Pam Hurley & Mike Hansen This arrangement by Jari Vester Vocal by Liana http://www.soundclick.com/util/DownloadSong.cfm?ID=66484 http://www.soundclick.com/util/streamM3U.m3u?ID=66484&q=Hi http://www.soundclick.com/util/streamM3U.m3u?ID=66484&q=Lo Guess I took for granted That you'd always be here Now I'm faced with the facts And struggling with the fear So if you can hear me I'm feeling so alone Please send me down some courage To conquer the unknown Cuz Until Now- You've always been here to lean on Show me how- to make it through another day I never thought I'd find myself in such a lonely place Until Now Seems you were the strong one Standing by my side I know I have it in me Its just kinda hard to find But I'll keep on searching And try to make you proud I'll do what I have to do To get past this dark cloud Cuz Until Now- You've always been here to lean on Show me how- to make it through another day I never thought I'd find myself in such a lonely place Until Now Not having you with me Wish it was a dream I hope that you can guide me And help me to believe Cuz Until Now- You've always been here to lean on Show me how- to make it through another day I never thought I'd find myself in such a lonely place Until Now [This message has been edited by Hurley (edited 04-22-2002).]

Hi everybody working on this!
I'm glad you told us that it's a working tape, Pam.
Reduce the echo effects on the vocal. The only words I can make out is "show me how" and a few at the end of the lines.
I like the guitar but it needs to be taken down in volume in places and here and there and occasionally reduce the notes in the arpeggio.
I understand that the guitar is providing energy to the song but the driving force should be the singer, not the guitar. Let the guitar be a little less frenetic in places.
Remember that you are selling the song. The song is the jewel, the singer the sparkle and the accompaniment is the setting. The setting should not out shine the jewel and its sparkle.
The pitch is either set a little high for the singer (who has a nice voice quality by the way) OR the melody is not allowing her to catch her breath and support her notes properly.
Maybe take the tempo down a hair. That should let the singer catch her breath as well.
Just my opinion. Keep at it.

Jean, You are absolutely coorect that the music needs toning! I'll post up the lyrics in a sec...really you cant make out any words?? I have a better quality version...but its in realplayer form-where things are toned down a bit but I can't ffigure out how to convert it to a mp3....
(If anyone has the ability to convert a rm file to a mp3 -please email me!)
Thanks!

Hi Pam First of all, I like this and I like the arrangement. I agree with Jean about the reverb, it doesn’t sit well in this mix. The vocals do need to be more up front, but as this is not your final version I’m sure this can easily be sorted out. I think the verses are fine, but the chorus is too wordy. Try singing the following it will give the chorus more clout, a case where less is more. Cuz Until Now - You were there to lean on Show me how- to make it through the day I am not saying these should be the words I’m just trying to illustrate a point. Hope this helps and good luck. downloaded and listening now Pam. Lovely voice Lliana. Yep kill the reverb. Pam. If you have a tape of this you can patch chord from your ghetto blaster to the puter line in and record it as mp3 on whatever mp3 player you use. Yours don't do it, download Music Match. Is free. I presume Lliana recorded over a pre done file from the net. needs to tone the backing down a bit yes. Fingering didn't bug me, just the volume over the voice. Will mean the fills will be a bit quiet unless you can get the artist to make a new file upped and downed to suit the singing. Works well for a demo and plenty good enough for any real A&R person in my book. Anybody can't hear what this could do with ful production isn't a n artistic or creative listener and would be better digging ditches. REgards. Pam: This version is much clearer..Tho, I think it points up some weaknesses in the song. For one: I think the chorus is too stretched out: Cuz Until Now, you've always been here (TO LEAN ON) seems excessive Show me how to make it through(ANOTHER DAY)seems excessive. And, I don't get the second verse line, "I know I have it in me, it's just kinda hard to find" What is the "it"? courage, from the first verse? And, finally, "Show me how" implies the person is there."not having you with me" it says in the bridge. I think if you said in the second versse "give me a sign" that might cover the above comment. Love Liana's voice..She's perfect for this song, which needs a couple of tweaks to be complete.../Glen ------------------ "The process of learning is often more important than what is being learned" -----The Kat---- Glen King Music Domains For Sale. http://www.musicdomains.cc

Way better. I can hear the words now. You can bring the guitar back up a little click again. But not too high.
Liana has a lovely voice. If you can, have the composer drop the pitch down one whole step. It sounds to me like the high note is hitting her where her voice breaks.
You've got to adjust the piece so she can sing this with passion and strength. This arrangement is the Flamenco style. If you are going to use that style, the vocal should match.
Anyway, drop the key, get the mix blanced, throw in some latin rhythm and I'd say it's a go.
JeanB
had to come back and spell rhythm right. Sure miss that spell check.

Hi Glen, Fun collaborating online but when it's done overseas things take more time-I was glad to be able to post up a clearer version. LOL Made it easier to pick the flaws out huh- like I said Mike and I did come up with lyric changes that arent on this version. Thanks for the additional suggestions --when I can reach the singer I'll try to address all the issues. Appreciate the advice! Stay tuned for the country ballad version also! Pam. Isee youmentio you can't up or download. I believe the biggest culprit for this is your ISP. if you have friends on the same ISP find out if the up and downs works on their puter. If it doesn't, change isps. I went around friends puters trying differnt ISPs until I found one I could upload on then switched to them. My old one swore it was all my fault right up to the end, or that of my sites but I found out they had changed their security settings and that was what it was. Took three tries before i found another ISP that did it all. Hackers and Bin Laden sure don't do the internet any good I tell ya. Regards.
