Ande. very well done demo. I always appreciate the talent it takes to do a song with just a guitar and vocals. That takes real talent. No fancy mixes to cover anything up. Excellent lyrics. This song should fit right in with todays Country listeners. It would make a touching video. ------------------ www.soundclick.com/billrobinson Bill Live with a song in your heart

That's awesome! Best of luck to you with it. It's definitely got "the magic".

Ande- Beautiful song! Great guitar work and the vocal is very well done. Is that you singing? If so, you have a great voice. The theme that you are singing about here is so powerful - when our loved ones pass we see these "pieces" in a new light. You really nailed this feeling on the head. This song has a lot of potential - something I think a lot of us can relate to. Thanks for such great work! www.soundclick.com/chipboaz

Wow, what a great songwriting team! The lyrics are very well thought out & touching. The music soars up into the "heavenlies" and my wife listened in and loved it too. She says that it's refreshing to hear a song with this kind of subject matter. Kudos to you Ande & the rest of the team on this collaboration! Michael

Great song! Really enjoy listening to Brock's voice. Sounds like it should be part of a movie soundtrack ... beautiful story. As a side note to Brock: have tried emailing you a couple of times with no response. Not sure if that means you didn't get the emails, if you're just too busy, or you had no interest in working on the song. It's up on my SoundClick site: Simple Pleasures Girl -- I think it would have sounded wonderful with your vocals. Anyway, "Pieces" is beautiful! ------------------ Mary Lou http://www.soundclick.com/bands/3/mlsudkampmusic.htm [This message has been edited by carrgirl1115 (edited 03-22-2004).]

Beautiful song. Simple and heartfelt.
The song has "Sentimental Souvinirs" sung sixteenth, sixteenth, (upbeat before the measure) eighth, sixteenth, eighth, sixteenth, eighth tied into a half. I'd like to hear it sung started on the downbeat of the measure: eighth, sixteenth, eighth, dotted eighth, eighth, sixteenth, sixteenth tied into a quarter. It would change up the rhythmic pattern at that point and put the stresses on both "Sent" and "ment" the way the word is naturally stressed rather than stressing only "ment."
Also in "Grandpa's headin'..." same thing, the stress of the downbeat is on "head..." I'd stress "Grand..." making it the same rhythmic change as I would have in the first example.
Beautiful song, great images, fine demo.
All the Best, Mike

Beautiful, Ande. Best of luck with it.
The verse 2 lyric is as good as anything I've seen as far as telling a story through images. Man, you nailed that!

That's terrific writing, both the lyric and music. That's a cut... uh, it's already been cut! Yep, that one is a winner. There's nothing to suggest, it's just good.

Well written and performed and very touching song. You have the country ballad voice down for this kind of song. Love the solo acoustic guitar - my kind of music ; and very well played I might add. This is the first song of yours I have heard but am looking forward to hearing more. Clint

Great song, don't know which version I like, Brock's or Dave's but doesn't matter since it's being cut...keep us advised and all the best for when it's released.

Hi Ande,
I lost a very dear aunt (my mother's older sister) a few months ago. This song brings back memories of her. My mother's oldest sister who lived with my departed aunt almost all her life has truly missed her as she continues to touch with her loving hand the pillows that my aunt used to lay her head on, her bed cover and the other "souvenirs" on her dresser and inside her cabinet that she left behind. Your song strikes an emotional chord. Really great song!
It's interesting how three vocalists can give three similar but different approaches to the subject and to each lyric. I hope that your song touches many other people.
Released as a single with the different vocal versions would be interesting given such a nostalgic subject matter. It might be an overkill, but I would love to hear a child sing this song too.

Ande, it works from the beginning. The lyrics are very good - obviously a lot of work went into them because they work so well from beginning to end. No weak parts.
The music is just right - it sets exactly the tone the song needs. The quiet mood is very fine - quite but not the least boring.
The vocals are excellent- bring forth the right tone and just enough emotion.
Very nice.

Hi Ande I went back through the posts looking for Ants song "You Can't Run Away" cause I just love it, and I found your song Ande. I nearly missed it, I have been flat out with work, and working on my songs, Don't push my button, and also Get over it, and when I seen the title of your song, I had to check it out, as my song Get over it, I talk about pieces, but mine is completely different version, mine is about a jigsaw puzzle piece by piece, and it's coming along really well. Anyway, your song is amazing, and I'm pleased I got to listen to the Piano version, congratulations, beautiful song. Aussie fan Michele

Hi Ande,
Just listened to both versions back to back and their beautiful. Going through someone's things after their passing can be such a bittersweet experience. It's probably smart to take the songs you believe have the most potential and invest in having two versions done, one female vocalist, one male. The reason being is if you hear about a search for a certain song where they specifically are looking for a certain gender then you're ready on both fronts. Thanks for sharing and good luck!
Best, Lynn
