I haven't dome many trad type songs lately but this lyric by Nathan really caught my attention and he graciously allowed me to compose to it. All critiques/thoughts appreciated although only mixing/production critiques will be acted on. But if you find some flaw with this, we really want to know about it! Thanks! Honk if You Love Jesus (at soundclick) Lyrics by Nathan A. Baker Vocals, Piano, Arranged and Produced by Ian Ferrin Verse 1 Judi was a tree hugger She had brown eyes and auburn hair Drove a vintage Volkswagen camper It was slow but it got her there Her van covered in bumper stickers Psychedelic art and sayings grand She and a guitar picker Set off to see the land Chorus “Kindness makes a difference” “Think before you speak” “Honk if you love Jesus” “Let’s clean up Copper Creek” Verse 2 A few hundred miles a day Between strip malls parking lots Traveling on what they made Busking in the market spots They ate at road side diners Tasted their way west Guitar pickers like cheddar better Judi liked Gouda best Repeat Chorus Bridge They worked away their summer Hauled old tires, pop cans and trash If love was a raging fire Judi’s heart would have been ash For twenty years she saved the forest And became that guitar picker’s wife Twenty years of conquest Until a sudden totally unexpected and random and crazy sicknesss... took her life Repeat Chorus “Honk if you love Jesus” “Let’s clean up Copper Creek” Copyright 2013 Baker and Ferrin

Everything sounds good to my ears, Ian. You did well interpreting the lyric/story musically. It's quite catchy.

I really enjoyed this. It moved along with a great groove and at an excellent pace. Loved the lyric and the piano sounded great. Really nice production too. Nice job.

Cool story and production. Is it just me or does Ian's voice sound a lot like Little Stevie B?

Colin, It's not just you. I thought the same thing.
Ian, This is a well-written song. Stringing bumper sticker slogans together for the chorus really worked well. Keep up the good work.

Excellent production and story. One of the best fidelity recordings I've heard on here. Really nice job Ian....

Hey Ian, superb music, and vocals, the lyrics are such a great story of the little known hard working ecology souls who clean up the endless messes all around us. Nicely done.~~Matt

Thanks everyone for the VERY kind feedback including Calvin, Stevie, Dave, Michael, Colin W. and Colin M, Dan, Lisa, Bobby and Matt.
I really appreciate your kind comments.
Matt - I do think Nathan has painted a really nice picture of an 'ecology soul'.
Bobby, my fidelity secret is... Ozone. I've got one instance of it on the drums and another on the whole mix. I just got it at Christmas and the last few mixes I've done, I think, sound a lot better.
Thanks guys,
Ian

Great production and mix. Yup, it might be little stevie jr.! Ha, ha. I might have to try out that ozone stuff one day -- but I don't know if I have the sonic space to justify it -- hard to say, though.
Great tune.

I don't Mist-Up very-often, but this one Did The Job!!!
"KUDOS" Brothers Ian & Nathan...this'n's SO Well-Done. (&..I almost avoided it, because of the Title...)
Hats-Off to whoever amended that line to have "cheddar better"..the intraline rhyme there was a Plus!
So MANY Plusses...& NOTHIN' to nit...
A Beautiful Tribute to the Judi's of The World.
Good Luck with it Gents..Very Impressively-Done! Best Wishes & Big Guys-Hugs, Stan

I'm honking because I love Jesus, and I'm hootin' cause I love this song!
I'll blare it driving through my Trader Joe's parking lot, on my way to gather signatures about how it should be illegal to gather signatures at Trader Joe's.
