For my birthday last week, I got a gift certificate to a local guitar shop (Fender dealer), and then some cash -- to put towards a guitar. The guitar I have always wanted: Or, maybe I'll get it in seafoam green. But that natural wood tone is so damn pretty! Hoping it won't take too long. But it probably will. Gonna get the Mexi-built one, about $750 or so. Although the Squire was actually pretty nice, I wanna wait a bit and get the better one. (I think that American Standard will just take too damn long!)

I play my Telecaster all the time. Probably my number 1. A belated happy birthday. I like this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SnQYoRYedF0

I've always loved Tele's, but I always wanted a strat. I wouldn't buy one because a dipstick I knew always played them. I even helped him get one once. He always got the same color too, black. So two days ago I ran into a real dream, strat body with a tele neck. Surf green with an F hole. I bought it yesterday. They are called the pawn shop series.

Yeh. My Strat is, and probably always will be my #1. I've had it so long, that it's really a part of me now. Sometimes, even when I'm not playing it, I just walk over and stroke its neck. Sounds sexual, but it's not. I don't think.
But I just love the sound, and the look of those Thinline Teles. You get that Tele bite with the extra resonance from the semi-hollow body.
Just gotta make sure that I get one with the right neck.
Still dreaming...

Ohh yeah, those Thinline's are really smooth. I've also loved them the times I've tried one in the shops.
Even if Tele's mostly are associated with bite, they can also do smooth and thick, so they are really more versatile than some realize.

I bought an amazing 52 Reissue a few months ago and I've played nothing else since. All my other guitars are feeling a bit left out.
I'm a complete Tele convert and it's the most versatile guitar that I've ever played. It can do any style. My 52 has got all the original specs and that includes vintage fret wire which is tiny compared to my other guitars. So this took a few weeks of chocking notes during big bends on the high E but once I got used to it there was no problem. When I play my other guitar now they feel a bit like toys compared to this 52 Tele.
Congrats on the Thinline it a killer looking guitar and I bet the tone sparkles.

Not quite halfway there. But my birthday is next week, so that should (hopefully) get me a little closer!

Happy for you Todd! Hope the wait isn't too long. My son has a green Strat in the closet. He just doesn't have time to pull it out. With college and full-time work his plate is full. Though he would kill if someone tried to take it. Happy Birthday! Best, John

Local guitar shop just got some of these in. They are too damn pretty not to at least consider. Anyone ever play one of these? With the Gretsch Duo-Sonic pickups?

Looks like something Dolly Parton would play to me!
Actually, it is cool and probably sounds great with those chimey Gretsch humbuckers.

All I know is that I want one :-) My mate has a Jet with these pups and it sounds incredible. Looks like something Dolly Parton would play to me!

Pretty looking guitar but for what they are charging I'd rather get either a regular Tele or a regular Malcom Young Gretsch duo jet (which I own and love).

That white tele is gorgeous! Looks like you have to wear a tux when playing it.

Happy B-Day, Pop!
I'm also a Fan of those Natural-Oak Finish Fenders...tho mine's a Bass...(Got it for $75 at a local flea market...since it was EXACTLY the model that they kept on-hand at the Studio I used to record demos at back in the '80's.) Got about 5 other axes, the 6-String kind..heh..over the years...hopin' for Time-Enough to learn to play some of 'em..heh! (Ever hear of a Kort 45?)
Guess I'll go dust some of 'em off tonight...heh! Good Luck with the New Addition, Amigo!

Pop,
I used to own a squire tele and all it took to make it play really well was just a simple dressing of the frets (I do that to all my guitars anyway).
PS. I just bought a solid body of that tele for a christmas present to myself (BF buys his own present too (weird but we never overspend that way)

So, I'm about 3/4 of the way towards having enough money to get my 69 Tele Thinline reissue that I've been coveting. But, then the shop has a used Mexi-built Jaguar that I played tonight. And I loved it. Lots of cool tone possibilities and much variety. Plus, it's only $400 (used, in damn-near perfect condition). Any of you have any experience with any recent-model Fender Jags from Mexico? But I'm thinking that I want to at least wait until the 69 comes in and I get to play it before pulling the trigger on either. Whaddya think? This is the Jaguar: (Yes, it's Candy Apple Red) And this is the Tele Thinline: (Yep, I'm ordering it in Natural)

Supposed to be ready early June. Then July. Now it's looking like August.
Does Fender run behind on production like this a lot?

Just heard from my shop: Fender pushed it back to OCTOBER now. Tweeted about it and posted on their FB page hoping to shame them into getting on the damn ball. Jeebus.

Verbatim email I sent off to Fender Customer Relations: Fender Folks, Back in May I ordered a '69 Telecaster Thinline reissue in natural from my local shop (A Sound Education in Brookfield, IL). Four times, now the arrival date of the instrument has been pushed back due to "production delays." The first time I was a little bummed, but understand. The second time, when it was pushed back to July, I was a little perturbed. The third time, pushed back to August, getting annoyed. Now, it has been pushed back to October -- and I am flat-out pissed. I understand that there are production demands and whatnot, but to keep a customer waiting for a guitar that he has already paid for is bordering on arrogant. Waiting to hear your response. Thank you.
Sincerely, Todd Leiter-Weintraub, still waiting on my Tele

I'm just about to start saving for a guitar that I dream of one day having, as I really want a pedal steel guitar (ZumSteel double neck, to be precise), and I'm going to have to save up for years and I have to practise on what I have already got at the same time.

She's a beauty, I love tele's.....the way they look and sound, just not very good to me for playing solos, necks are generally too small.
