Well, Dave Rice if you are out there man, I just woke up under a Joshua tree in the desert, and had some rattlenake for breakfast, then I looked up at the sky, and pulled my old Taylor out the back of the truck and got out my cassette player and wrote this here song for the Forum, man. An anthem for the people. I will keep on driving across the desert now, looking for my lost sense of humor in this dry, lonesome place, but I hope to see everybody on the other side. I think I see water about twenty miles away. https://www.reverbnation.com/davidpsnyder/song/29203880-just-plain-folkshttps://soundcloud.com/davidsnyderchannel/just-plain-folksJust Plain Folks By David Snyder V1 And now that my days At the forum are done And I never got a chance to sing The song that wasn’t sung I have wonder about those things I might have done wrong And how to live my life next time To write a better song And how to live my life next time To write a better song, cause CH: We’re just plain folks It’s all that we can be We shouldn’t cut one another’s throats Cause it’s just not neighborly, and it ain’t me And I shouldn’t put my ego out For all the world to see Cause then I’ll start fight a fight and someone will surely come for me Oh darling can’t you see It’s all about the good folks, and the plain folks and the old folks And the young folks, and the smart folks, and the dumb folks And the downright ordinary down to earth folks Sometimes you have to forgive and forget Just as long as you still see It’s all about the plain folks, and honey…it ain’t nothing… It ain’t nothing, it’ ain’t nothing About me Bridge: And you might not like how I do things But sometimes I gotta let it out I was born so country girl Sometimes I just gotta shout, ‘cause (go ahead and sing it son, tell him the King sent ya) CH: We’re just plain folks It’s all that we can be We shouldn’t cut one another’s throats Cause it’s just not neighborly, and it ain’t me And I shouldn’t put my ego out For all the world to see Cause then I’ll start fight a fight and someone will surely come for me Oh darling can’t you see It’s all about the good folks, and the plain folks and the old folks And the young folks, and the smart folks, and the dumb folks And the downright ordinary down to earth folks Sometimes you have to forgive and forget Just as long as you still see It’s all about the plain folks, and honey…it ain’t nothing… It ain’t nothing, it’ ain’t nothing About me, ah naw girl Epic Anthem Rideout for All My Peeps It’s not about me, oh no, it’s not about me, Oh honey, Let it Be, Let it Be now Set the Free Bird Free can’t you see, just set me free, Just let it be, set the freebird free, I was blind but now I see, oh honey it’s not about me Set the free bird free And let it be Can’t you see, it’s not about me Set the free bird free Set the free bird free now… Etc. Hey, Snyder.... I thought you dedicated that rousing, tear-jerking, toe-tapping number to me!!! LOL! He's at it again, folks... but he obviously understands "entertainment." If you are in the desert dining on Diamondback... pray tell, how did you pass Glen Rose without giving me a call? We could have had a "jam on the town square" and attracted a crowd of at least three paid participants! Oh well, another opportunity lost by the last of the Rice's.
Thanks for sharing, Sheriff! Be careful out there in the badlands... and send more if you have time. Good stuff... I'm still laughing. ----Dave

Hey Dave: I don't get here as much as I used to and don't get to all the threads. So I feel like I'm missing something However, even if I don't know what's behind it, I still think it's really cool - love those shout outs at the end. Man, this does feel like an anthem. Scott

Hi Scott:
I hate to be "hi-jacking" David Synder's thread but you asked, I'll tell ya' everything I know. It seems that our friend Snyder and our other friend, Floyd Jane know each other somehow from the NSAI. David began posting songs with his fantastic sense of humor interwoven into nearly every one of them, later identifying he is a friend of Floyd. (Isn't everyone?)
The other day, David posted a song using this "over-emphasized" Redneck vocal and just about put me in stitches. I commented and he then proceeds to produce the "themesong" of this particular thread, interweaving rattlesnakes and the desert into the song... and I'm pretty sure he has not left the environs of North Carolina... but, one never knows. Anyway, he's generated a great deal of humor here at JPF. He appears to "reel off" a new song with rapid-fire precision... including the music, recording and vocal(s)... packed with humor.
Somehow, my comment struck a chord with him and he was kind enough to "dedicate" this little ditty to me... before he gave it away to Barry. My faked indignation was merely an attempt to "pull his chain" yet again. Can't wait to hear his response.
Sorry for the long reply, old friend, but you asked.
All the best, ----Dave

Man, I just woke up and I'm pretty sunburnt from yesterday, but I will write you another song soon my friend.
Thanks for keeping my battered spirit alive. Why don't meet meet up in Cave Creek outside of Phoenix. We can for sure write us some just plain hits around there.
Talk soon!

Hey Scott, Thanks, I was just goofin' around and trying to bring in some levity. I will make this the title track of my new coutnry album I think, although I don't know if I will call the album "Just Plain Folks" or "Levitation." I have to sit on that one for a while. Happy Sunday.

Phoenix? LOL! Been there... done that! Way too far for an old geezer like me to drive. We were in Mesa briefly a few years ago getting ready to make initiators for air bags. Didn't like to job and returned to Texas.
Levity is always good... and I suspect your "spirit" isn't battered one bit... LMAO! Enjoyed your "Anthem!" Send more soon, desert dweller. ----Dave

A JPF song! I should have thought of this myself. You beat me to it, curses....
Cool song, very Dylan-esque. "Tell em the King sent ya" - lol. You have some very clever stuff going on in the tune.
The mix sounds good, too. It's pretty spot-on for the genre. I have no nits (believe it or not!).
Peace, TC

David,
Well, I’m not sure I get all the back story on this tune—but forget that, this is just an impressive song. Like everything about it!
All the best,
Deej

Thought I'd fall outa my chair when I saw your post, Floyd! (Rolling on the floor laughing!)
Our friend Snyder is the "real deal" isn't he! The "desert drifter" needs to be careful if he's really out there near Phoenix. The "Coyotes'" will be after him for ransom. My best guess is: He's having breakfast at Tiffany's not far from Wall Street... getting ready to deposit all that cash he's been making from his albums... like you!
Have a great day, Pal, ----Dave

Floyd, Dave,
Y'all need to shoot straight with me and stop beatin' around the bush. You need to just come right out and say it. Are you saying I should change the Chorus to:
CH:
It was about me! yeah it was all about me! What was I thinking you crushed my dignity cause you hurt my feelings and you picked on me so yeah, y'all it was all about me so don't Let it Be but set the crazy bird free
If that is what you are saying, I will re-record the vocals tonight, but don't be so abstract y'all. I can handle the truth.
Off to Reno now. Catch ya on the flip flop.

I'll swear, Floyd:
We have another "song-tweaker" on our hands, don't we? Old "Rapid Fire Snyder"... they call him out there somewhere between Tuscon and Phoenix!
I'll let you handle the technical stuff 'cause I only made it through the fourth grade at Fairview School. Our music education included a rhythm band and they let me play the triangle... but not very often.
Later, ----Dave

Thanks Dave. Well I am still marooned here on this desert isle writin' letters to Floyd and puttin' them in bottles, but I ain't heard nothing back, and them cuckoos is still dropping coconuts on my head so it hurts pretty bad.
Has this song made it to the forum yet?
