Sometimes even very hurtful words aren't enough to extinguish the flames.
YOU'RE IN MY DREAMS
c2016 Brian Beecher
The mean words you said have hurt me bad And ever since then I have felt so sad But in spite of it all You're in my dreams
I've decided that those tensions won't disrupt The feelings I have for you it was not enough To cast them aside You're in my dreams
And now I am open to sharing your trials As I continue to journey across the miles In unlikely places we could learn to let go Of the hurting words said so long ago As you're in my dreams
If you out there on the edge of town You could have seen me broken down But that is because You're in my dreams
And though memories are sometimes blurred It's easy to see why that event occurred It's easier because You're in my dreams
And now I am open to sharing your trials As I continue to journey across the miles In unlikely places we could learn to let go Of the hurting words said so long ago As you're in my dreams
Yes now I am open to sharing your trials As I continue to journey across the miles In unlikely places we could learn to let go Of the hurting words said so long ago As you're in my dreams You're in my dreams You're in my dreams

I don't know. My experience has been that once the hurting words begin, there's no going back.

Hmmm...I guess my impression of this is...vague. "In my dreams" is usually romantic, or at least positive, but it doesn't appear to sensibly follow a verse full of hurt feelings. I mean, why? Why is the person in the singer's dreams? The bridge suggests forgiveness, but I don't hear it.
