I recently compared Masterwriter ($289, though affiliates can get as low as $199) to the Lyricist ($39.95, though can get as low as $34.95). I found it was a toss up as to which was better, feature-wise. Masterwriter has a bigger rhyming dictionary, both have mediocre thesauruses, the Lyricist has much better chord charting. I went with the Lyricist due to price and better chord charting. I still do most of my writing sitting in a comfortable reclining chair and not at a computer, so I still prefer a good hardcopy rhyming dictionary and thesaurus.
