My Country Girl
She don't think much about livin' in the city She said, life in the fast lane, won't keep you pretty Too much noise and too many strange lookin' faces
She loves that laid back easy country livin' She said, life on a dirt lane, will keep ya grinnin' Down at the creek,is one of her favorite places
With a heart as soft as her cotton dress Eyes as pretty as a spring sunset My country girl, passes all the tests With a touch as soothin' as summer rain And kisses sweet as sugar cane My country girl, drives this country boy insane I wouldn't trade her for nothin' in the world My country girl
She don't like livin' in a New York minute She said,Rodeo Drive, don't have one horse in it Too much of a hassle and far too many plastic people
She likes takin' her time slow as molasses She said, she likes to 4 wheel drive, through muddy batches She likes to hear night critters and bells ringin' in a steeple
I wouldn't trade her for nothin' in the world My country girl

That's GOTTA be your opening line Michael. Fantastic.
IMO these lines are unnecessary:
"She don't think much about the city" and "She loves that laid back country livin'".
The reason is that they're superfluous. IE they're implied in every other line in the song. IE they're unnecessary for your story.
Your chorus is fantastic also IMO. Very lyrical and musical. This has really strong potential IMO.
Peace,
Ian

I agree w/ Ian on those lines being the opening lines. Those are great lines. I love your chorus too. It flows very well as a lyric and could hear it almost playing its own tune. Very good write.

The line "Rodeo drive don't have one horse in it" says it all IMO. Sometimes the worst thing you can do is explain your clever lines! Peace, Ian

hey Ian,thanx again! No,i wasn't explaining it,i was asking if maybe i should keep it where it is but just write something stronger in V. 1.I can hear the song starting with the verse you like and keep it going from there,it wouldn't be a problem at all.I'll re-write and take a look!Thanx Ian!Mike

I didn't see anything I would change. It seems to flow smoothly. And I kinda like the first verse the way it is set up. It portrays a laidback attitude very well. Very conversational lyrics. Thanks for posting.

Hi Michael,
Ditto what everyone is saying! Really, really nice song, beautiful sentiments, and that Rodeo/horse line is especially great!

Very good lyrics. Although, I will admit I thought "molasses" was a setup for "muddy passes." You gave me a twist there. Fine job!

Some great lines here. There sure are some strange lookin' faces here in Nashville. Any well-written song about a country girl should do well.
