Sorry for being all over the boards lately! Trying to get things done before vacation. This is my third (and final) write for a publishers listing requesting songs a la Tom Petty's "Mojo" (among others). I decided to go a little less blues on this, with a little slicker production. Can't get my vocals right, though, so it's a scratch at this point. I need to rerecord vox, but nobody hears this but you.. right? Still need to carve out some spaces in the mix with EQ also.. I'm especially interested in knowing if the lyrics are universal and in proper (enough) englese Thanks to everyone for lending your ear.. also to those who listens but does not post a comment. Hard To Get http://soundclick.com/share?songid=9408217© 2010 Magne Kolstad Hard To GetShe's Hard To Get Don't hold your breath You'd turn blue Before you knew She's hard to meet A Busy Bee So do your thing Or you'll get stinged But she's Hard To Get And you're not there yet She's Hard To Get So don't lose track Of your ABC's On taking leads She won't be fooled By shining jewels So do your best To take care of her But she's Hard To Get And you're not there yet You wait for just the right moment But time slips away through your hands You think of ways to kiss and to hold her But somehow it runs out in the sand She's Hard To Get But don't give up Forget yourself She may need help To break the spell Her secret shell You know so well That she will melt But she's Hard To Get And you're not there yet

Wow, great tune. Sounds a lot like Tom Petty... and reminds me of a sweet young woman I should call right now... :-)

Magne, You are possesed by the Petty Mojo. Very well done. I like the AABA style too. I got to try one of those, I have never written one believe it or not. I am a fan of yours I am hoping you become very successful. kj Tom

Good Petty-like tune. Works for me. However, "stinged" isn't proper English. Should be "stung" Kind of kills your rhyme.
Maybe something like this:
So hold your tongue Or you'll get stung
Good luck with it. I really liked it.
Rick

Magne
What a great song and production. I love it a lot.
looking at the English IMO which could be wrong.
Rick was right on that "stinged" being Stung
I'm not sure about 'and' in the 2nd line of the chorus... should be 'AS' and the last line of the chorus as I don't see the connection to the rest of the chorus...what runs out...could be me though. all IMO
You wait for just the right moment AS time slips away through your hands You think of ways to kiss and to hold her But somehow it runs out in the sand
God Bless Roy and Helen

Jimmy, Larry, Tom, Rick, Michele, Jan, Roy, Colin,
Thanks for your nice comments on this. Appreciate it a lot! Larry, it didn't make any sense, but thanks for the effort :-) Tom, yeah, I've done a couple AABA's, and I love that form. Really nice to be able to work in several forms, and AABA IS a classic form. Even though it's not seen much on top 40 (yet, you can find some), I think it works really well for tv/film tunes. Rick, Roy, Colin, thanks for pointing out the grammar. Much needed! Jan, well noone here cut's it in english (for the International markets), but vocalists are easy to find on the Internet. I may know a couple, I'd like to try out.
Im going to work on the lyrics and the vocal tracks next week, before I finish it up.
Appreciate you all, taking the time!

Hi Magne
I like this too -- one additional english note
She's Hard To Get -present tense Don't hold your breath You'd turn blue - future --- I think you sung you'll -- more present/future - but it was not clear Before you knew <<<<< this is pushing the english ( maybe BUT ?? you knew) She's hard to meet
before you KNOW It - would be the conversational.......
Nice work, though !

Magne, Great melody and groove. Top notch playing and production. I wish I had written it. My only criticism is with the lyrics. I have some suggestions for improving them, which I have sent in a pm on your Songclick artist page, if you'd like to look at them.
Anyway, you have got a great rockin' song there. Can't say enough about it. Good luck. Dan

Hi Magne,
You definitely have the Petty groove thing going on with this one. Very cool lyrics and music. It looks like others have covered the English issues. Just a small thing in the last line of the bridge.
"But somehow it runs out in the sand"
I assumed this to mean the sands of time, like maybe the sands in an hour glass? If so, then maybe say:
"But somehow it runs out WITH the sand".
Ship it out already!
Ricki

I like this tune a lot Magne. You're really improving.
There IS something wrong with the EQ on the vox, although your performance is pretty good. Overall though, great production on this.
Peace,
Ian

Joice, Dan, Jan, Ricki, Ian, Thanks for listening and commenting! I finished this off today, and have moved on to other projects. New lyric and mix up. Thanks to everyone, especially Colin, for the line
