Really fantastic tune Scott. Just really great musical storytelling. My only 2¢ is that I think the vocal might benefit from being slightly louder in the verses... This is a folk tune and I think that's what would sit better for the genre.
All the best with your project.
Peace,
Ian

Ian Thanks Ian - I agree with you on the vocal level in the verses. Will nudge it up a bit. Appreciate the confirmation! Scott

Scott
This song moves me, The list of things that he wants to describe is so poignant, tears my eye when I think of the life unlived.
Thanks for writing this one

Scott I really dont like to nit someones song, especially when I have as much rspected for wrting ability as I do for yours. That said. I have had an issue with one line since I first heard this song. When my brother's screams woke me at night. I think it would be immediately clearer, and maybe its just me, if it were like this. When the screams of my brothers woke me at night Like I have said over and over I love this song, but that one line has given me issues from the start. Oh yeah did I tell you my opinion and 4 bucks will get you coffee at Starbucks ....... Paul

Hey Paul: I don't mind nits at all - I made about 8 changes to this based on nits given when I posted it in the lyrics forum. All of them made it stronger imo. On the line in question - I actually went back and forth between the way I have it and the exact line you proposed. What finally drove me in the direction I did was "screams of my brothers". I simply could not sing that line convincingly. If I tried to sing it so the words were clear, it sounded like I was teaching a phonics lesson. I dunno what it was - too many m's and b's in close proximity or something. I kept getting tripped up. I'm sure someone else could sing it that way - if it ever comes to that, I'll give them the option. Thanks Paul! Scott
