Colonel Parker, Elvis Presley's Manager, always got Song-Writers and Publishers to give up some share of their Royalties as an incentive for Elvis to do their Song. They say you'll see a lot of his Songs where he's listed as one of the Song-Writers.
When Col. Parker told Dolly Parton he wanted part of the Publishing Royalties for "I Will Always Love You", which she had cut and released and had a nice 'hit' with, she declined the 'offer'. Elvis didn't release the Song. I wonder if he cut it and that recording is lying around somewhere.
Let Dolly tell you the rest, and wonder how much Graceland might cost.
