Comments: Is just Plain Folks friendly... (or artist friendly)..."Good restaurant/club to play. It is a new venue (Jan. 2003) by has a lot of potential for excellent growth. Owner has dpent over 1/4 million $$ renovating the building and have a beautiful place. The restaurant/club has a New Orleans theme so blues, and related bands will be appropriate for the clientele.

Hi Jody,

Sorry I didn't include all the template info, I just moved the list from the Nashville sites. As I collect info, I'll edit.

Here's a list of Nashville songwriter's nights that I've put together from several internet sources.
Some of these nights are open stages, some require that you call in to sign up, and some are by invitation. Call the number listed to find out the procedure. If the number is wrong, post here and I'll edit it.

Please post if you know of any others or know of any changes. I'll edit this then.

All the Best,
Mike

Couple of additional bits of info:

At the Bluebird Cafe, you sign up between 5:30 and 5:45...there is usually, no, make that always a line at the door of musicians waiting to sign up. The line usually forms starting about 5:00 P.M. You write your name on a piece of paper, and place it in a basket labelled "First Try" or something to that effect. Barbara Cloyd will go through the slips and make up a list of first timers. There is a second basket, for people who have been there before as first timers and did not get the chance to play. At the end of the night, if you are a first timer, go back to the sound booth, and retrieve your slip, and the next time you come, put it into the second try basket. You always will get to play on your second try. (She can tell the second try slips, because there is a rubber stamped bluebird on them, so if you accidently put your name in the wrong basket, she will still know)

At Douglas Corner Cafe, you have to call in to sign up. The telephone number is (615)292-2530, and it only works after 2:00 P.M. It is a different number from the regular telephone of the Cafe. If you are even TEN minutes late signing up there, you are likely to be playing around midnight, or even later.

I don't have info on the other clubs...

I'm touring 8K miles this fall, including a few days in Nashville. I'm doing my own booking. Not a big name (yet?). I emailed a few places with blurbs and links to my website: Douglas Corner, 12th & Porter, Bean Central, Broken Spoke, Lipstick Lounge. Just heard back from Broken Spoke, bypassing audition (yay), but offering a Thursday 6:30 slot of three 3 1/2-minute songs. ***oops, I'm back to edit. Not the Broken Spoke - they closed - it's at a place called Commodore Sports Bar & Grill.***

Feedback on the venue would be great. But also - is this a real gift horse? (Should I look it in the mouth?) Not that I'm greedy(actually, I am), but I wonder what the odds are of landing something better - if not in addition - that might involve: $$, better exposure, longer set...?

Thanks!
