When you send in a CD collection of songs to copyright, do you include lyrics too? Is it a requirement? I never did in the past.

Hi All,
I have never sent lyrics but I suppose you can, if you wish. I believe you can send sheet music or a sound recording to register your copyright(s). I think the instructions on the PA form just say the best recording of a work.

Everett:

I've never sent lyrics with form SR. Just an attached list of the songs and the CD in MP3 format. (My list includes my catalog number, genre and numerical sequence on the CD)

I don't remember sending Lyrics with form PA either.

Yes you can send lyrics or lead sheets. I recommend it - who knows how long the audio recording is going to last.

I was wondering about the extra space lyrics would take up in storing the songs. I've never sent lyrics before and they have never asked for them. Sound on a CD should last for many years, not so sure about tape though.
