I like how you break the rules in this.
It's more like a musical journey than a formulaic song.
Melody and chord progressions keep changing to build the emotion.
Took me several listens but I think I get it now

BTW - would be nice to hear big drums in the latter sections..

Drums, I thought about and tried a few takes, but I think it is a bit too late to start after the singing and before that I didn't think they fit in the style of this song. But thanks for your suggestion.
