Throwing A Pity Party

Throwing A Pity Party - 03/27/21 03:06 AM

A friend who is a much better musician than I am taught me this little picking pattern and since I am sidelined right now with plenty of time on my hands I turned it into the following song. All critiques will be gratefully returned. Thanks for the listen.

Throwing A Pity Party

Thereís dust upon my running shoes, cobwebs on my bike,
This busted kneeís been keeping me from doing the things I like.
And my womanís sheís growiní tired of me always mopiní around the house,
She used to be so in to me, now Iím beginning to have my doubts.

Chorus:
So Iím throwing a Pity Party, not inviting anyone else,
Yes Iím a throwing a Pity Party, and feeling sorry for myself.

I forgot to feed my dog again, the neighbors picked up the slack,
He just stopped by to let me know that he wonít be coming back.
Now I apologized repeatedly and I promised to change my ways,
But he just grinned, shook my hand, now he hasnít been back for days.

Chorus:
So Iím throwing a Pity Party, not inviting anyone else,
Yes Iím a throwing a Pity Party, and feeling sorry for myself.

Bridge:
It wasnít all that long ago, all my skies were blue and clear,
I hardly even noticed when that first dark cloud appeared,
But then the others quickly followed and that rain began to fall,
Now Iím here with no umbrella feeling battered by it all.

Now I see people every day just as happy as can be,
Holding hands and exchanging smiles, kissing tenderly.
And I should be happy for them but I really just wish theyíd stop,
For though it shames me to admit itís true, itís beginning to piss me off.

Chorus:
So Iím throwing a Pity Party, not inviting anyone else,
Yes Iím a throwing a Pity Party, and feeling sorry for myself,
Yes Iím throwing a Pity Party, and feeling sorry for myself.

I wish there was a real obvious "tongue-in-cheek" emogee smile

Hey Bobbie!

Loved these lyrics--I'm sure unfortunately, relatable for many!

On board as well with the lyric, and you have a nice alternating bass groove going that keeps the music interesting

Big thumbs up from me

Great hook. The song is definitely relatable to many folks. The guitar playing is pretty solid, too.

The recording sounds pretty good, but it would sound really good if you cut some midrange in the mix (400-500Hz). I don't know what tools you are using but if you have a way to use a bit of EQ, this recording will really shine.

Good lyrics, too. I liked it!

Peace,
TC

Great theme Bobby, I can identify with. Which is part good part bad!
Thanks I enjoyed it
