The World Remembers Him

Born a Man of Sorrows
Well acquainted with grief
This Holy Son of God
This man of the street
Walking through this world
Of hatred and deceit
He spoke of love and brotherhood
Blessed the poor and meek
They buried him in the dust of death
He was killed for mankind’s sins
They hoped he’d be forgotten
But the world remembers Him
From town to town he travelled
On worn and weary feet
Taking shelter where he found it
From people he would meet
This man was known to heal the sick
He could make a blind man see
He promised Life Eternal
To people who believed
They buried him in the dust of death
He was killed for mankind’s sins
They hoped he’d be forgotten
But the world remembers Him
Condemned by those he came to save
Mocked and worse than this
Abandoned by his friends
And betrayed with a kiss
Whipped and cursed he wore
A crown of thorns upon his head
Then he broke down the gates of Hell
And came back from the dead
They buried him in the dust of death
He was killed for mankind’s sins
They hoped he’d be forgotten
But the world remembers Him
He died 2,000 years ago
But he’s still alive today
You might see him in a shelter
Where the homeless people stay
You might find him in the places
Where the wretched congregate
Or outside a Refugee camp
Where the broken-hearted wait
They buried him in the dust of death
He was killed for mankind’s sins
They hoped he’d be forgotten
But the world remembers Him
