Carolina

© 2024 Barry Williams Lyrics
Music and vocals are by AI

Looking back, I've always been a traveler,

spent most my life out on the road,

with the days of my youth unraveled,

I came back to my sweet mountain home.

To Carolina

your Hollars hills hardwoods and pines

(Carolina)

like an old good friend of mine

Carolina, Carolina, Caroline

I wake up to the smell of your jasmine.

I watch as daybreak dances on your dew.

as the hills come alive, I imagine.

it's all God's creatures, saying I love you.

To Carolina

Your Hollars hills and pines

(Carolina)

Like an old good friend of mine

Carolina, Carolina, Caroline

The road was long,

That brought me home.

It's where I'll stay,

Till they bury my bones.

In Carolina, Carolina, Caroline

I went searching,

For the end of the rainbow.

Just to find my pot of gold,

was here at home.

In Carolina

Carolina, Carolina,

The road was long,

That brought me home.

It's where I'll stay.

Carolina, Carolina, Caroline

Till they bury my bones.

Carolina

Hi Barry,

I can move it for you. (Assuming you wanted it in A.I.?). I will check back if/when you confirm that for me. It has a nice production, and if it IS A.I. I like that it is scaled back rather than a huge sound. I agree with Bill that this reads like a Bluegrass screed. That is the fun of A.I. in that you can hear it is any style to see what works best.

There is nothing wrong with the lyric, though I wonder if you could develop it to tell an actual story or impart how Carolina has positively (or negatively) impacted the narrator. There's a lot of creative approaches to praising and giving accolades to a place. But including an element of narrative (say, like using Carolina's virtues to tell the story of your life, your love, your family, your history, your struggles or faults and so on. You could tell a ghost story or find an interesting historical event, or just make one up and then write an interesting story with a point or a conclusion or moral to the story or how a place can change you from this person to that.

In fact, I was thinking, as a fun exercise, that those using A.I. could have a writing challenge thing where each writes and tells a story based on that weeks Challenge and using A.I. to present it in various styles etc. All just for fun of course.

Let me know if that sounds interesting.

Hey Barry,

This has that good, ole, down home, "Country Roads" vibe, man. Nicely done, sir!

Peace,

Dave

David, thanks I like how it turned out too. I appreciate you taking the time to comment.

I like your quote by the way, I always say where there's a Williams there's a way.

Yeah not sure I hear bluegrass in this seems classic country to me, but the lyrics make it a good song. Well structured, good imagery.

The vocals I think give it away, something "software ish" about ai vocals .

But think you got a nice result.

Personally I dint think we need an ai section, the songs get buried there.

I think three MP3 spots would cover everybody.

But good tune man.

Barry,

Love the melody and the sentiment--feels homespun country/bluegrass to me. Really nice lift!

Lyrically, like Brian suggested with maybe insert some "Carolina qualifying" real thoughts other than "all metaphors"--though I like some metaphors for sure, maybe also a story line of why/what felt negative about your impetuous youth travels for more contrast--example: (Maybe be more specific about, "life out on the road)." I know it can be challenging when verses are short, so perhaps one line tweaked on each contrasting story line would compliment each other lyrically to give the song slightly more story and interest?

AI is interesting, not something I've delved into however.

I like the lyric - naturally enough, as I'm in North Carolina smile It reminds me I have a song about Carolina that I need to go back and work on. The great thing about Carolina is that it's one of those four-syllable states that rolls off the tongue - harder to write a song about Washington, Utah or Rhode Island. Nice use of alliteration that makes lines like these easy on the ear....

"Your Hollars hills hardwoods and pines"
and
"I watch as daybreak dances on your dew."

I think AI has done a good job here. It's always going to have a slightly generic feel about it, but it works well.
