This post is old "story" song that Rob helped me re-work with using SUNO. Much thanks to Rob. The song is the story of the destruction of a relationship by cocaine. SUNO AI CREATED VERSIONS of "Gone By Dawn"FAVORITE ITERATION (VERSION) SO FAR. **240815 AI SUNO Martin's first crack at AI - male lead vocalhttps://soundcloud.com/sunset-poet-of-texas/gone-by-dawn-2GONE BY DAWN Lyrics by Martin Lide Musical production by Rob Baitinger V1 It was girl's night out. They were laughing in a bar. Drinkin' tequila from little glass jars And doin' cocaine out by the cars. V2 A man walked in about a quarter passed ten. Lit that bar with blue eyes and a grin She couldn't... take her eyes off him V3 He walked right up like he owned her dress. Said of all these girls, you're the pretti-est. I jus' wanna talk for a while... I guess. V4 Her friends looked over like she struck new oil. Smiled at her like she met a royal. She said... for a while I guess. V5 Then at closin' time in a shiverin' mist She was sayin' good bye with quiverin' lips He leaned in close. And stole a warm wet kiss. Interlude She felt the mist come down. Felt a warm strong body in a cold gray town. She felt the chill leave the air. She felt her passions grow Felt her feelings swell like she'd never known. She pulled still closer next to him. V6 Her eyes opened up at the crack of dawn Fell on a ceiling that looked all wrong. She jumped outa bed and said... What have I done?! V7 She raced across town to another world. To a man who loved her and a baby girl. Screamin' at the windshield... What have I done?! V8 She flew in the kitchen All flushed with fear. He said "Don't bother lying. Truth beat you here. One of your good-time buddies laid it out real clear. V9 She knew that man. She knew that tone. She knew that night... She'd lost her home. She crashed to the floor like a giant stone. CHORUS She fell down upon her knees, and she screamed out in pain. I'm beggin' you please, let me explain. It was nothin' to me, just the cocaine. Swear on my life, I'll never do it again. Tears were streamin' down her face. drowning her in shame. That night would not erase, it would never be the same Beggin him to stay, she said don't leave me this way. It's all a bad dream, it'll fade away. TURNAROUND He said everything we had, that we built our love on, was gone, by dawn. Every future kiss, All the love w're gonna miss, was gone, by dawn. V10 Alone in an apartment, on a dreary day She was starin' out the window, and across the way. At nothing...there was nothin' to see. V11 One thought filled her tortured mind. If she could only get herself back in time and undo...a cold and misty night.[size:17pt][color:#FF6666]

What it is, and since I was the first one here to experi with it, I know.... it's two fold.
For some, it's a new art form, it may take time to be viewed that way. But,somebody's figured out a way to re assemble songs in a new way. Even if AI does everything . The people with a talent for doing this will be the new artist. Results will vary.
Secondly, for most here, it's a list of possibilities.
Ahh..I can go this way with this song, that way, or the other way.
I can use the verse on this one, the chorus on another, bridge in another.
I have some songs that God honestly, nothing was better than my version.
Couldn't find that feel or whatever.
In this cases you go with what you already have.
I think we still need clarity on what is considered stolen or what is referenced.
And I think ultimately, we can use our own musical ideas, and it use AI as a band and not a creator.
That's when it's going to get fun

Notwithstanding the last post, I plan to use AI a lot more. I was knocked-out by how much I liked that female version of my own song. But, I'll keep my head in reality. When I am working up other lyrics of mine, and greatly enjoying how they sound in their new clothes, I will never lose sight of the fact that a machine is creating and dressing the renditions.
Yet, I would prefer to put my live versions in one section and my AIs in another. On FB, I just put them up.

Ahh I see. No I'll stick to session players , for now anyway . Who knows down the line . thanks. That kinda goes what that session player told me . AI might put me out of business. it might . it could go something like this, AI and session players working together, which it already is in some forms . Like experts warning on all advanced robots replacing humans . Some kind of regulations . they already have watch dogs keeping a eye on new technology, of course were talking on 3 minute songs .

Yes you can download one stem with all instruments, and one stem with vocals, with instruments vaguely in the background . Unless they've improved . I use AI for ideas ,their capabilities' on downloads do not concern me . Ben At the present time I can go into a DAW/VST and select a single drum hit and change it, delete, or adjust the amplitude (velocity). In SUNO, all I can do as yet is upload the lyrics and type in some guiding prompts...then click "create" and see what comes back...and then try again with adjustments to the prompts. One of the frustrating things about SUNO is that it sometimes makes decisions on its own that I dont like. The point... This AI will blend with the DAWs and a greater level of control at more focused-in levels will evolve. And they will be user friendly. I have watched this evolution with AutoCAD and Revit. For now SUNO is fun, and amazing. The other benefit is that I can take a vacation and engage it with a Chromebook easily. DAW can't do that. Marty PS. Rob sent me a long list of prompts from some article. They were helpful. You might like to get them from him.

Marty, with the 10$ per month Pro version of Suno you get the much better V4 engine which not only sounds better but does much better writing as well. That version supports a function called "Replace". You can mark sections of your song that you don't like and Suno will do those sections over (and over and over) again. You can also modify the lyrics in the process so it can do the section again with different lyrics. V4 also supports a "cover" function which allows you to upload your own melody, vocal or complete song and have Suno create a cover version. So if you have a rock song and want to hear what it sounds like as an R&B song, just cover it. Or you can use that function to exchange your vocalist, etc. The package also includes 2500 credits per month. That will get you really addicted.
All the best - Robert

Thanks for the info Rob.
It is v4. I switched to a pay acct months ago after I read that SUNO retains the rights to their product unless you give them the 10 bucks. For what they deliver, compared to what I use to pay to pay to do one song in the studio, $10 is free. Truth is, I like what SUNO can do much better than what I could do in a studio.
Only shortcoming seems to be that the credits don't accrue. I didn't use the account for months and I still had less than 2500 credits. Does that sound correct to you?
In other news, I appreciate the awareness that you have given me of the other functions. I did go into edit and saw that the parts were sectioned, but did not know what controls a user had. Now I need to do some schooling on it.
Thanks much,
Marty
