Michael LeBlanc posted this pretty little lyric on JPF and he let me put a melody to it and chord it.

A musician on Bandmix.com liked it and offered to do music to it. Mike Birch did some great tracks and mixed this and he also did the background vocals.

Mike is open to any mixing issues you may have on it.

I thank Mike and Mike for making this song happen!

In And Out Of Love

In and out of love we go
I wish you'd make up your mind
Just when our love starts to grow
You kill it in a matter of time

In and out of love with you
My heart's your revolving door
I try to lock it when you walk through
But you find your way out once more

(chorus)
You come, you go
like the gypsy wind blows
warm my heart, then leave it cold
kiss me hello
kiss me goodbye
make me smile
leave me to cry
In and out of love
in and out of love
in and out of love

In and out of love we stray
This kind of madness has no end
Just when i think you're here to stay
In the wink of an eye you're gone again

(chorus)
You come, you go
like the gypsy wind blows
warm my heart, then leave it cold
kiss me hello
kiss me goodbye
make me smile
leave me to cry
In and out of love
in and out of love
in and out of love

In and out of love with you
You have something i can't let go
My friends say that i'm your fool
But it's a love they'll never know

This is beautiful. Sounds a bit dated but as a song it's really sweet. Like a carly simon or Stevie Nicks song. Rod Stewart, very 70's sounding.

Guitar might be out of tune in parts.

Might be able to modernize it with studio production.

Probably lacks a big hook, but the melody is really pretty. You took the lines and weaved them into small melodies.

Good work

Very sweet melody and lyric.
The snare sounds a little harsh.

Hi Tammy and team

Nice lyric and melody -- well done.

There's a bit too much going on in the chorus...meaning the layering of instruments and vocals comes across muddy rather than full. Suggest you listen for a while and try to decide where things can drop out for parts to fade and build... It's all there - I just think a little less and a tighter mix would serve you better.

All said -- it's a real good job and write by all concerned. I enjoyed it.

I love collabs in every way, besides it lets me listen a few peoples song at once smile

A wonderful feel and heartfelt write, could be a tad tighter, but Tams I really really liked the melodies. I love the spacing and changes, you have improved even more in this area, I'm so happy for you.

I would only suggest one tiny thing on that last chorus to use your voice and lift one or two of those "In and Out of loves" just for dymanics purposes...

MIke

Thanks!
Peace Mike

Very pretty and appealing melody Tam. I particularly like the verse melody. Though the chorus works fine. I like the lyrical concept. Nothing to add about the mix. The vocal and instrumentation complement each other. Nice voice!

However… thought it may be interesting to incorporate a “round” effect with the last three “In and out of love”, e. g., having two voices sing exactly the same melody with each voice beginning at different times (ala “Three Blind Mice”). It seems the harmonic structure would allow for that. Could even keep that effect going through several “In and out of love” lines. Just a crazy idea.

Anyway, I dig it!

Best, John smile

Absolutely beautiful Tammy. Wow, you have really come a long way in a short period of time. Here you are now, composing melodies to other folk's lyrics...and a very compelling and dynamic melody at that. I'm very proud of you.

Hey all,
Melody and vocals are nice. Only nit is I'd save the title for the Chorus, but that's just me smile

Really pretty, Tammy. That IS a beautiful melody - and perfect for the lyric!

Kudos to Michael too for rhyming the first and third lines in addition to the second and fourth. Many just settle for the second and fourth but it makes a ton of difference in impact to me to use an A-B-A-B scheme.

Nice work all around smile

I love it Tammy. The melody is so beautiful.

I totally agree with Joice. If this were me I'd listen to it for a while and trust me, new ideas will come and the excess will simply melt away.
I hear so much potential, I mean it's just a wonderful piece.

The melody and your soft vocals sort of reminds me of Natalie Merchant, on the Carnival album.

Good luck with this one.

I really like what you did with the melody in the chorus Tammy. It's a nicely crafted melody.

I also hear some pitch issues between your voice and the track. That'd probably be the #1 thing to fix IMO, probably either by you re-singing (or auto-tuning!) or him re-tuning the guitar.

Nicely done all around.

Peace,

Ian

Nice little track Tammy. This is a very well arranged and produced track and I love how it's all acoustic. The lead acoustic is very tasteful and not to overpowering. Give the player my best I can totally hear where he was coming from on this one.

It's goes without saying the vocal is very good and the lyrics are lovely.

Really enjoyed this one guys, you make a good team.

Hey, that sounds pretty good to me. I always enjoy your singing and the words, music and delivery seem to work together just fine. I see others have pointed out some minor issues to you -- so I don't have to, I can just appreciate the listen (ha, ha).

Hey Tammy, Mike, and Mike,

Mike, That's a really beautiful lyric! Good writing.

Tammy, I really love the sing on this one. You have the voice of an angel and the melody is superb. I think you did a wonderful job on the choice of chords.

Mike, I hear there is another mix in the works that has addressed some of the issues that others have mentioned. The quality is definitely there. The instrumentation is definitely top notch.

Very nice collab guys,

Danny

Hey Tams,

What a magic song. Solid lyrics, melody and structure. Probably the best I've heard from you.

Now, I'd like to see some time spent on it's delivery.

Suggs for improvement would be timing ( musical ) it's annoying to hear instrumental tracks played out of time.

Vocal wise, I think you can lift the song a lot more as you have the ability to do so. The opening lines are off pitch, and you so easily don't need to be off pitch. Dynamics will really make this song, and I would like to hear your voice soar, and drop back throughout the song.

Great song. I think with solid work put into it's arrangement and presentation it will be a brilliant track.

cheers, niteshift

Thanks Geoff,

We are making a few adjustments, I recorded the vocal early in the process with just a guitar track, now I have the full instrumental track and I am hopefully going to be able to squeeze it into my recording session at the studio, so fingers crossed... Glad you liked it and appreciate your suggestions!
