Here is a hope-filled song I wrote a few years ago. I thought it would be good to post next since the last one was a little discouraging. I think it’s important to note, however, that real life is full of both ups and downs. One of the purposes of life is to experience and learn from both. Incidentally, I didn’t know my wife when I wrote this one, but she truly is the embodiment of everything I have prayed for in a lifelong companion.
Your comments and suggestions are appreciated.
When You Were Just a Promise Words and Music by Aaron Corley © 1997 by Aaron Corley. All rights reserved.
Verse 1 We’ve only just met, you say to me When I tell you I love you. And you, still so unsure Of how you feel about me. You say you can’t believe I can love you so much so soon. If you will just stay, I will explain the promise.
Verse 2 I’ve spent so many nights dreaming of you, Wondering when you’d come. And I’ve prayed so many times That I would find you soon. The answer came, Promising someone made just for me. And when I look in your eyes That’s when I recognize the promise.
Chorus When You Were Just a Promise, When you were just a whisper on the wind, When you were just a dream, a sunrise yet unseen, That’s when my love for you began.
Verse 3 So, when love that felt so right, Turned out so wrong again, I found my strength Buried inside the promise. But now in your eyes, I can see the promise coming true. You’re here to stay. It has come true: the promise.
Repeat chorus
You say you can believe I can love you so much so soon. There in your eyes, I recognize the promise.
Repeat chorus

Aaron, Another good one! I especially like the chorus! It is just great. I like to see you write from different persectives. Cindy

Hey Aaron, Pretty melody, but no rhyming lines?

and my worse part of a lyric is rhyming...
