Hi Tom I have not experienced this exact prob but over the years have had similar problems after installing new software. I am not an expert but can offer some simple advice. Chances are it is a driver issue, compatability issue or a mis-installation of the new direct x software. So it is a process of elimination. First thing is to reboot...that can fix a multitude of problems. System restore can also fix certain issues. I am puzzled about the restore. Are you saying you cannot do a restore or is it that the restore did not cure the prob? Updating or uninstalling/reinstalling audio drivers can also cure most audio problems. I would then try a complete uninstall of direct x and then reinstalling the new version. If that fails then I suggest going back and installing a previous version that worked. It could be that the new version of direct x will not work properly because of the minimum system requirements not being met. Check that it is suitable for your computer specs and operating system.

thanks Jim
I dont think the drivers are the problem and the Direct X installation went fine........nothing at all is in yellow on my component check......The inability to do a system restore is a big mystery-never had that happen before either...
will keep clunking around till this is fixed or the computer is in little tiny pieces (hopefully it will respond to this threat and start acting right again-lol.

Humm, I'm not sure what you are having trouble with. Is it when you listen to a music video that is posted on the Net. Such as something on YouTube? If you haven't De-Fragged after installing the program you might want to De-Frag. Then Re-Start your computer. It could be that you have contracted a Virus but if you have a good Anti Virus Software installed that probably isn't it.

Hi Tom I occasionally get little stutters in the audio during streaming. It seems to come and go tho so I figure it's internet. But it might be something else. If I replay the video the audio is fine. So I suspect it is a buffering issue. But it seems to be Utube type videos. If I watch something from Infinity like a TV program the audio is fine. Also if it is very small glitches you may not notice it in the video. A millisecond stall will be heard in the audio but hardly noticed in the video
Beyond that I can't offer anything else except to look at your memory. Do you have something running in the background that is using up memory? Look at the task manager and see what your memory usages are while viewing videos and while the computer is idle. Idle readings should be very low. 5% or so.
Is your System restore turned off? Go to the system restore settings and make sure. also check that the drive is listed.
