One of my Christmas writes is close to the finish line.. and my friend Stuart Cardell has been very kind to deliver vocals for this one. He is from Australia, does he sound a little like Keith Urban you think? Forgive me for untimely posting a Christmas song in May, but would like to hear your thoughts.. Do you think this is pitch quality? What isn't? Can you think of artists/ songs with similar vibe? Target is the tv/film mrkt. Song is released online now, you can click the link to hear it. When the Rain Turns into Snow

It sounds pitch quality to me. Michael Buble has a similar vibe. Good luck.

Magne, That is flat out the best Christmas song I have ever heard on these forums. What a great hook too. Kind of a juxtaposition on the GREAT Dan Fogelberg song "Auld Lang syne" Where the snow turns into rain <-- Sad.
Really well written you have to be proud of this work.

Hi Magne,
It's a good tune IMO. Really good. Great production and vocals.
I don't like the word 'black'. It's a real visual downer to open a Christmas tune with. I'd suggest 'dark'. I'd also seriously consider opening w/ your 2nd verse. It's got a much better Christmas vibe. First impressions are pretty critical.
And either way, in the November rain verse, I think it might be stronger if the dark to light transition happens in the 2nd line. Like the cold to warm transition happens in the 2nd line in the other verse.
All the best w/ this. It's really great work.
Peace,
Ian

Hi Magne Your title/hook drew me in. BTW never too early to post a Christmas song and if I'm not mistaken from what I've read in the past, pitching early is preferred in order to have things set for the Christmas season. Only thing lyrically that didn't sit well was the 3rd line in your Chorus. "when the world is turned downed low" Christmas atleast in my travels seems to be a time when the whole world comes alive and there is the bustle of malls, the lights, the excitement/anticipation the parties, etc. An idea might be... when the world just seems to glow Nice vocals and yes, I can see this targeted to the film/tv venues as well. Thanks for sharing. Best, Lynn

Hey Mags,
Great vibe here mate. Beautiful song and arrangement, especially like the bridge. One small thing, I'd like to see a rythm acoustic in parts to give it some lift and momentum, then a drop back.
Apart from that small nit, it's a killer song mate. Good luck with it.
cheers, niteshift

Colin, Richard, Tom, Ian, Lynn, nite,
Thanks for all your comments! Lot's of good inputs to consider, here.
Nite, I actually have an acoustic in there, but mixed it low, just to have it add some density to the mix. Really good point on having something more "driving", though.. Hmm, I need to work on that.

I like "When the world is turned down low". It made me think of peacefulness, and less distraction, and calm. I wouldn't change that. I think with a female singing it, it might sound a little more upbeat. I love the title/hook!

Hey Magne, This is nice, but I noticed that one verse has no rhyme:
[color:#000099]I wake up to a cold December day But still my heart is warm Cause, I can see the light that's reachin' in Gently on my walls [/color]

Hi Magne,
First thing that pops is the singer--he's fantastic!
Nice chords, nice arrangement...wow!
With chord changes this cool, you could re-orchestrate this a million nice ways. You chose a nice one, a little reminiscent of Clapton's softer sides.
Nothing to nit, here...nice work, guys!
